The last hole of The View Golf Resort’s nine-hole course seems designed to be the grand finale. The fairway slopes uphill to a green overlooking the Atlantic and the craggy bluffs of Newfoundland’s coastline. It’s a fitting end to a course where birch trees, ponds, and shrubbery double as both golf hazards and charming scenery. The course’s varied terrain—from flat fairways to rolling hills—not only prompts a change in strategy but also gives a different perspective to the surroundings. The six suites at the resort also showcase the surrounding scenery through large picture windows framing the icebergs in the ocean and the bald eagles in the sky. Alternatively, studio suites are better suited for two people and boast the property's best views from the third floor. Newfoundland: Rocky Island Rife with Natural Treasures

Located off the eastern edge of the North America mainland, Newfoundland has a history that stretches back to the Vikings. Archaeological digs have unearthed a lot of 11th-century artifacts on the island's northernmost tip, including the remnants of wood-framed peat-turn buildings similar to those found in Norse Greenland and Iceland. This particular site, known as L'Anse aux Meadows, is well worth a day trip for a look of what life was like a thousand years ago. During free guided tours, costumed interpreters showcase how the Vikings would have forged iron, made textiles, and baked bread (on a stick).

Newfoundland is also known for its natural sights, with terrain ranging from barren rocks to boreal forests. About a 90-minute drive from The View Golf Resort, the Terra Nova National Park harbors abundant wildlife, including black bears, moose, and foxes. Terra Nova also has several watery nooks and crannies for diving and swimming.
