For 30 years Gator Stompin’ has brought students and residents of the Gator Nation together to descend on the city for a day of drinking, live music, and raucous merriment. This year, the Gainesville mainstay decks out pub crawlers with a stylish T-shirt that acts as an all-access pass to more than 50 restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Guests meander through downtown, popping into local watering holes such as Gator City and The Grog House Bar & Grill, before sauntering into the Grooveshark-sponsored rooftop preparty at the Holiday Inn or brashly crashing a land-shark party uninvited. Local bands spray-paint the walls with original music as Gator enthusiasts carouse with neighbors and compete for more than $5,000 in raffled prizes.

The Pledge 5 Foundation, a nonprofit organization, hosts Gator Stompin’, in addition to working with charitable partners to inspire others to give back to their communities, hosting promotional events such as food and clothing drives, pet adoptions, and Kiss a Cabby campaigns.

As a nonprofit organization that organizes philanthropic events for other nonprofit organizations, the Pledge 5 Foundation conducts food, clothing, and public-service pledge drives for its numerous charity partners. In conjunction with each of these charity drives, it hosts community-centered promotional events—pub crawls, pet adoptions, and tailgating parties—that aim to inspire people to give back to their community. Pledge 5's staff, interns, student association, and service chamber all work to create positive change throughout the Gainesville community by stimulating local commerce and planting popsicle gardens.
