Can I buy 2? It would be 2 different cars but likely redeemed by the same person.

Linda H.

Is it the same price for SUV’s?

Sharon W.

Is the one year deal the same platinum wash, or a different one? (What is Manager’s Special Wash?) thanks!

Michael P.

Is this a good deal? The Genie Coupons in the paper always have discounts. I only see a $51 similar package on their site, not a $100 package?

Neil S.

Is it good for a mini-van?

Evelyn H.

I’m confused as well, I don’t see how it’s worth $100 according to their list of services on their website. They don’t list anything called “Platinum Car Wash”.

Suzanne L.

I’m not sure how they arrived at this number, but the ala carte price for carpet shampoo is $39+. It would be helpful to know which one of the car washes this is supposed to be comparable to though.

And a question: Is the shampoo option only for carpet, or does it include floor mats and/or cloth seats as well?

leonard s.

this is almost the same as the VIP wash that has a list price of $55… and the VIP wash includes the dashboard cleaned… which this “deal” does NOT!!!…. total rip off!!!

leonard s.

sh_t!!… i screwed up… SORRY!!… if this “deal” is similar to the VIP wash PLUS the carpet shampoo… so it DOES seem to be almost OK… STILL NOT worth $100….

Morgan Z.

Good Morning Everyone- I will try to get a few of these answered for you to the best of my ability! :)

Barbara- Yes you may buy multiple.

Linda and Niel- I am unaware of any restriction on SUV’s or Mini Vans but you may want to reach out to Genie directly for confirmation.

Sharon- The side deal is a different wash and the details of that wash are listed below or can be found here: http://www.geniecw.com/services/carwash.htm. (MANAGERS SPECIAL WASH: All car wash packages include a wash, hand dry, vacuum, windows cleaned inside and out as well as dusting of the dashboard and steering column. The Manager’s special is a Basic wash plus Underbody Spray, Wheel Cleaning, Tire Dressing and Air Freshener.)

Leonard, Suzanne and Evelyn- Thank you for your feedback! Genie has designed this package exclusively for Groupon subscribers therefore it is not listed on the site with the other packages. Our team determined the value by using the pricing listed here: http://www.geniecw.com/services/aLaCarte.htm

I hope that is helpful! Thanks to everyone for getting your Groupon with us today! :)

Morgan w/ Groupon

I was going to get this as a graduation present and was all excited. I read the reviews and now have to think of something else. Even the good reviews were terrible. Bummer!

It sounds as if the exterior wash is not done by hand – can anyone verify???

Morgan Z.

Good Morning Stacy- Thank you for your feedback; we are aware of the mixed reviews out there but were impressed by seeing that Genie has been named The Austin Chronicle’s Best Car Wash 12 times in the last 20 years. (http://bit.ly/cXca7g)

Hope that helps! If not, there is always another offer tomorrow and maybe that will encourage you to get your Groupon with us again! :)

Morgan w/ Groupon

Sarah P.

Wait, Morgan, it’s the Manager’s Special Wash? According to the website that costs $19.99. Are we getting anything in addition to that?

Morgan Z.

Hi Sarah- I apologize for the confusion, I was actually answering Sharon’s question about the Side Deal today, which is the manager’s special. This offer is NOT the manager’s special! Sorry about that—hope that helps! :)

Morgan w/ Groupon

leonard s.

i wish i had read the online reviews BEFORE i bought this groupon!!!…. WOW!… never have seen such terrible reviews!!!…. now i am scared to go there..

Morgan Z.

Hi Leonard- You may edit your purchase until midnight tonight. The directions on how to do so are listed on the purchase page and if you have any trouble with that please feel free reach out to support@groupon.com and our excellent customer support team will be able to assist you!

Morgan w/ Groupon

Todd C.

You didn’t do your homework Groupon! This is not a deal. You can get Genie’s “Best” wash for $24 ($18 with an easy to download coupon from their website) and it includes everything, but the a la cart option. I’ve never heard of a Platinum package at Genie, much less for $100!

Jessica C.

It says: only available only at selected location. Does this mean “Genie Only”? Or only one of Genie’s locations?

So basically we pay $39 and get: exterior car wash (is this by hand?), inside windows, dash, console, doors, carpet vacuum, wax, and either carpet shampoo or wax. That’s about $100 value because it usually costs $13 for an exterior basic car wash, $40 for dash, console and doors and $40 for carpet shampoo. To me, this looks like a deal!

Morgan, before I purchase, can you answer my two questions?

Thanks!

Morgan Z.

Good Morning Todd- Thank you for your feedback. Please know that Groupon works extremely hard on our “homework.” We have several teams that work on establishing the value of an offer. Again, this offer was designed exclusively for Groupon subscribers and is not only the Deluxe Wash that you mention but also includes a different hard wax option or a carpet shampooing option and more extensive and thorough interior cleaning.

I apologize that today’s deal doesn’t do it for you—however one of the great things about Groupon is variety and tomorrow might be just the thing that helps you get your Groupon with us! Thanks again, Morgan w/ Groupon :)

Suzanne L.

Still waiting to hear if the shampoo in this Groupon INCLUDES floor mats as well as carpet. In the ala carte menu they are listed separately.

Morgan Z.

Hi Jessica- Great questions! It means which ever location you select when checking out is the location you will need to use your voucher at! Let me know if that’s confusing at all. :)

Deluxe Wash – $24.99 (which is a wash, hand dry, vacuum, windows cleaned inside and out as well as dusting of the dashboard and steering column; plus Underbody Spray, Wheel Cleaning, Tire Dressing and Air Freshener; plus Clear Coat Protectant and High End Velocity Wax.) + Clean Dash, Doors & Console (so this covers more than the included dusting of the dashboard) 34.99 & up* + CHOICE OF Hand Wax Express Carnauba $39.99 OR Shampoo Carpets 39.99 & up* = $99.97 ($100 value)

We pulled all the pricing directly from the Genie website and I hope this is helpful to everyone! (http://www.geniecw.com/services/carwash.htm and http://www.geniecw.com/services/aLaCarte.htm)

Thanks again, Morgan w/ Groupon

Jessica C.

Thank you for the feedback. I think it’s worth it!

Morgan Z.

Hi Suzanne- I would encourage you to reach out directly to Genie as they are the experts in that area of the offer! I apologize I don’t want to give you the wrong information.

Genie can be reached at (512) 327-7600 or you may email them here: http://www.geniecw.com/contact/contact.php

Hope that helps! Morgan w/ Groupon

michael h.

Hi maybe I can help answer some of your questions. This special offer is for a groupon package only, (not found on our website). So let me go through what this includes, if you read our menu you can expect to get the VIP Wash, which shines the interior dash and doors. With this coupon you are upgraded to a Dash and Door Detail, Plush VIP Wash, then add your choice of Carpet Shampoo or Carnuba Hand Wax. VIP Wash $54.99 + Dash and Door Detail $34.99 n up + Carpet Shampoo $39.99 n up or Carnuba Hand Wax $39.99. So its actually $129.97 that you are getting for $39

Susan P.

After reading all the negative comments about Genie Car Wash on City Search Reviews, I don’t want to risk it. I’m not buying this group on, sorry

Suzanne L.

I have been going to Genie for years and have never had a problem. But I am curious if anyone has found a place in their online research that has many POSITIVE reviews, and not just three or four. I have not, but would love to know if there is one.

Morgan Z.

Hi Susan- Thank you for your feedback, again we are aware of the mixed reviews out there but were impressed by seeing that Genie has been named The Austin Chronicle’s Best Car Wash 12 times in the last 20 years. (http://bit.ly/cXca7g)

I apologize you’re not interested in today’s feature but hopefully the variety on Groupon will encourage you to get your Groupon with us another time! :)

Thanks again, Morgan w/ Groupon

Randolph H.

Can the deal be applied toward a detail package on a pick up with a service body and camper shell?

Morgan Z.

Hi Randolph- This offer is only valid for the package mentioned, sorry about that!

Morgan w/ Groupon

Sharon W.

I have been going to Genie (S. Lamar) for MANY years (both under the old and new management), and have had many good experiences there

Margaret M.

Morgan Z’s and Michael H’s clarifications have explained that, taken individually (from the a la Carte menu on the Genie website), the services would cost FAR more than the specially-designed Platinum Package they have compiled (and named) for this Groupon offer. I have used Genie for over 20 years, when I want to spurge on something special, and don’t have the time to do it at home. Their reputation in Austin is unparalleled. Now I can do the best wash my car has had in years, for a great price! Good grief — I’ve never seen so many whiners and nitpickers — this must mean you’ve never used Genie before!

paula b.

Can I use this groupon for a pickup?

Thanks,
PJ

Deanna R.

Hi guys – if we don’t have carpet in the car, do you still wash the interior flooring? I have a Honda Element.

Deanna R.

Also, I have to add that I hope Genie really steps up their game on this one to turn around some of those negative reviews. Maybe they’ll take this as an opportunity to do well!

Christopher B.

No hand wash, no deal… :(

tara t.

Morgan, We really need to know if this offer is good for SUVs. I’ve been to Genie many times and have been mostly happy with their work. This is a good price from my past experience-any detailing starts at around $90. I will buy this if I know the price will not increase when I arrive in a Ford Expedition. Thanks!

Aimee B.

So I bought it because my car is in desperate need of a wash and wax. However, I hope there is no confusion on the part of those actually doing the wash when I take it in since it’s not a “normal” package. There was a lot of confusion as to what was included for this deal. I’m going to confirm everything to be done with a manager when I take it in.

Brandy H.

I bought the deal and have a Ford F-150. I second Tara T.’s question…wanted to make sure my price wont increase when I show up to redeem my groupon. Thanks.

Julie K.

I think this is a good deal and everyone is being dumb.

Morgan Z.

Hi Brandy and Tara- Thanks for your questions; this offer is valid for your vehicles. We did not receive any Fine Print saying otherwise from Genie. If at any point during your redemption there is an issue you may contact support@groupon.com and we will gladly return your money to you. Groupies are our priority! :)

Thanks to everyone for your interest, feedback, comments, questions, and support today and thanks for getting your Groupon with us! Morgan w/ Groupon

Thomas M.

Personally, I don’t care about whether my car is hand-washed, but I do care about the quality of the wax job(s). Last time I was at Genie, i was told I needed a “compounding wax” and buff, and was quoted at least $100. Could you explain more precisely what is meant by a “high-end VELOCITY wax” and “hand wax EXPRESS carnauba”? Not sure I like the terms “velocity” or “express,” and I don’t want to get to the place and be told that the wax jobs I paid for would be useless for my car. Somehow I doubt that the “high-end velocity wax” is correctly described by this quote: “Then Genie’s detail devotees slather your ride with a thick coat of wax until it gleams brighter than burning barrels of peanut butter.” (That’s BEFORE the optional hand wax.) I don’t expect my car to be repainted or look like new (it’s a ’92 Camry), but I do want to halt the apparent decaying of the finish. If I select the hand wax option, will that expectation be met?

every time i try to buy the deal it says there is already an account under my email address and it won’t let me buy the deal. i had this same problem with the photo session deal and was not able to purchase it. how do i clear this up so i can buy groupons? i have started using living social because of this problem.

Morgan Z.

Hi Dedee- It sounds like you’re signed in with both your Groupon registered email and your Facebook account. This happens a lot! Just simply sign out of all accounts and log back in to Groupon with your email address—that should do it!

Any time there is a technology issue please reach out to support@groupon.com and they can help you manually purchase something! Hope that helps!

Morgan Z.

Hi Thomas- I am pretty sure that the carnauba is a type of hard wax—applied by hand. I apologize that is about the extent of my waxing knowledge! I would think the compounding wax is something a bit different—my recommendation is to reach out to Genie directly! I am sorry I couldn’t be more help!

Genie can be reached at (512) 327-7600 or you may email them here: http://www.geniecw.com/contact/contact.php

I had been going to Genie for a long time when the prices were cheaper, especially with the coupons….so for how cheap it was, I didn’t get upset if stuff wasn’t cleaned properly. So I really used to like Genie because I could get a quick cleaning for a good value. However, the last time I went there they broke something in my car and didn’t even tell me and I almost drove off without being able to make a claim. They said they would call me back in a few days after they got the part and have it fixed that week, however they never did. So I gave them a few weeks and finally had to call them and it turns out they dropped the ball and never ordered it. Then they said that I had to go to the dealer because they couldn’t figure out the part to order even though they had my vin #, so I got the invoice for the part myself from the dealer and then they gave me the wrong number to fax it to. After getting the correct fax number, I again waited another few weeks thinking the part was being ordered…but never heard from them so had to call them again. They ended up blaming it on the “luxury” car dealer for taking too long for the part to come in. Well, considering I have used the same dealer myself and knowing that luxury cars dealers are generally prompt in ordering to maintain customer satisfaction, my instinct told me that it should not have taken that long to order a part. So I called the dealer myself and found out the part was never ordered and Genie purchased the part the day I called because it was IN stock. So basically, the person flat out lied to me and instead of admitting he dropped the ball yet again, he just blamed it on the dealer being late. After being promised it would be fixed the week of the occurrence in March, it is now May and my car is only now scheduled to be fixed. I will be making a complaint to Genie and would like to see what kind of remedy they will offer me for all of this headache. Although I do want to say, the manager was nice throughout all of this, but I do no appreciate getting the run around. I would like to say though that I have used Genie for years and have never had a huge problem like this…only that sometimes the inside wasn’t as clean as I would have liked, but again, it used to be so cheap that it didn’t matter…so I hate to completely bash them, but this was ridiculous. And also, Genie is making arrangements to fix my car, so in the end they are trying to make it somewhat right.

L N.

Okay Genie made it Right!!! Apparently there was a mix up in the company and the part was thought to be ordered so I may have spoke too soon about whether or not the person lied. Regardless of whether or not it was ordered or not, I spoke to them and they are making it totally up to me for all the headache, so when a company admits their wrongdoing and tries to make up for it, I give Kudos to them. Everyone makes mistakes, and it shows good faith when they try to remedy it. I apologize for all the banter or inconvenience I have caused any of you.

Margaret M.

L.N. Thanks for being a big enough person to admit a mistake. You’ve done exactly what you complimented Genie for doing, and you BOTH deserve Kudos. Also, Genie probably will think twice about offering such a good deal in the future. Too bad so many folks had to look a gift horse in the mouth — I, for one, know they do good work, that this is a substantial discount, and I’m looking forward to my ride looking really sharp!

Thank you for your response. I may just go for it and hope for the best!

when i try to buy the deal you tell me there is already an account under my email address. it won’t let me purchase. this happened once before and i missed out on the deal. what is wrong. i am doing living social deals now because you won’t let me buy!!!!!!!

Barbara S.

Just bought 2… Our cars go to Genie a couple times a year for a thorough clean. We have been very impressed with their service. We did have one issue where there was minor damage to our car but the manager was wonderful and the vehicle was repaired and they didn’t charge us for the detailing done that time. We’re looking forward to our cars going back at a good price!

Morgan Z.

Hi Dedee- I am sorry to hear you’re having trouble—again, it’s likely because you’re signed in with both your Facebook access and the email that is registered to your Groupon account. If you log out of both, refresh the page and log back in with only the email address you should be able to purchase with no issue.

You shouldn’t ever miss a deal—you can contact support@groupon.com any time you encounter that issue and they will take care of it manually for you.

Thank you, and I do apologize—it’s not our intention to make it difficult for you to purchase. Hope that helps! Morgan w/ Groupon

Meshari A.

Funny how on Yelp.com they have been receiving all 1-star reviews for the past year, but for past 2 DAYS they received 4 positive reviews all with 5 stars!!
Someone is trying to improve their reputation before offering a GroupOn discount?

You can tell because all of these 5-star reviewers wrote only 1 review in their lifetime. I don’t like companies deceiving people to make sales.

Matthew C.

Hi, I bought this Groupon and went today to the William Cannon location to get the car wash. I had a great experience, and think it was well worth the $39. You get to choose wax OR carpet shampoo, and I went with the wax. They spent almost 60 minutes on my car, first with the vacuum guys, then the automated wash, then the hand wash, and then the detail guy. Car was vacuumed well – I had a lot of dog hair in the carpets, and the vacuum couldn’t get all of it, but got over 90% (that stuff is pretty tough to get out). Inside leather and dash was all cleaned and polished. I was able to find a few spots that weren’t all-the-way scrubbed, but that car started out pretty filthy so I was still very impressed. The detailer worked very hard on the outside of the car. The body, the windows, the bumpers, the hubcaps and tires, all shiny and sparkly. The car looks better than when we got it.

I dropped off my car and went for a jog around the neighborhood for 30 minutes or so because I don’t like sitting around waiting, but they did have a nice waiting area. They have a kid area, several vending machines, a TV room with couches, nice restrooms, a couple video games, and big windows to watch the automated wash. Staff was friendly. I chose to tip the detail guy because he worked his butt off, but no one hassled me for any tips, upgrades or payment of any kind after I presented the Groupon. This was a GREAT deal. I haven’t been to the other two locations, but the William Cannon location is a place I’ll visit again. They have several nice self-serve car wash slots too; I’ll probably take my pick-up there one day.

Lisa W.

They did a terrible job—didn’t clean the inside of my car very well at all. There were still Cheerios under and between the seats, inside of windshield was dirty, etc. I went for a redo with a list of what they didn’t do, and they didn’t even fix everything on the list! And they didn’t even send it thru the car wash again! Very disappointed.

Charla M.

I went by there today and noticed just now that they DID NOT shampoo my carpets. I guess I needed to read the fine print…they guy asked me about some wax job(they mumble under their breath) and when I said to him, I know the carpets get shampooed, but does this include shampooing the seats and he said no, but he would cut me a deal for seats. I said ok, I would think that he would have taken that opportunity to tell me, I am sorry but you chose the waxing not the shampooing ( I didn’t realize it was one or the other, my mistake)..that TOTALLY SUCKS now I have a clean car with dirty floors!!! And I had the same problem as Lisa…they didn’t even vacumn it very well…stuff was in between the seats and under the seats. Everything I paid for I could have done myself! There is a reason that I go to Quality car was on Guadalupe!!!! For $15.00 I can get the same thing that I paid $39 for.

Roxanne R.

I went by the Genie on Burnet Rd last week to redeem this deal. I also did not see a platinum car wash on their menu. They talked me into a “really good” car wax job for an additional $150.00. Since my car had not had one of these, I agreed. I also got the carpet shampooed. They did a horrible job. The mats were not cleaned, so I had them do those again. The carpet was still dirty. I figures that it must be hard to remove, so I rubbed a white Kleenex over the spots at the dirt was coming on off the Kleenex. They did not vacuum the seams of the seats – full of crumbs, there was wax paste that remained on the exterior and the wheels were still dirty. I plan to call the manager to get at least a partial refund. I would have expected a bang up job the the $200.00 I spent ($262.00 if you include the discount from the Groupon). I feel that I got totally ripped off! Unhappy am I.

Aisha Y.

Just wanted everyone to know that I just used this at the Genie on Burnet Rd. They did an AWESOME job and even cleaned my leather seats for free (probably because they felt sorry for me, they were so filthy) Vacuum job got all the french fries between the seats and they got all the ground in food from my two kids out. I got the carpet shampoo and they’re clean as a whistle. All the sticky fingerprints are gone. They even shampoo’d the back of my Outback. Maybe it depends on what crew you get but I was very happy with the quality of their work.

A. A.

3 out of 5. The Groupon was a good value, but the service was mediocre. I’d consider the groupn again for $39, but there’s no way this package was worth $100.

glen n.

SCREWED UP AGAIN, THE LIFE STORY OF GROUPON, OR IT MUST BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS AN ACCOUNT NTHOUGH FACEBOOK, Y’ALLS FAVORITE ANWER

Deanne G.

Just used my groupon today at the Burnet location. Pretty disappointed :(

The outside looks great (we chose the carpets clearning and they talked us into adding the wax for $20) but the inside was a total disappointment. Luckily, we opened the back and it was still filthy. Hadn’t even been vaccumed, never the less shampooed! They said they couldn’t see it circled on the ticket :/

So we went back inside to wait for the shampooing (never realizing it didn’t include the seats… my oversight but I would’ve rather paid for those than the fancy wax). Got back in the car- the majority of the middle section/ console area hadn’t been touched! Dust still on the clock/radio panel and all the meters. They told us we could bring it back tomorrow to be wiped better. Better? It was never even wiped! Err! We said forget it at that point. Live 20 mins away and I can wipe my own dash for that much trouble.

Like someone said… there was NO WAY this package (which mysteriously is not on their website or posted at the store) is worth $100. I’m sticking to Kwik Kar in Pflugerville. Never been diappointed there!!!

Darin S.

What a scam!!!!!!! I used my groupon for this wash and had already started driving away before I looked around. But when I noticed they hadn’t even wiped down parts of my console, I started questioning this $100 value. They tried to throw upgrades on me, but my response was, “This is a $100 car wash. What more do I need?” I found out… a lot more. When I got home, I saw that there were still marks from bird droppings on the exterior and when I opened the doors to the back seat, they didn’t even vacuum the back! I drove back and asked them to at least do the minimum I would have gotten with a $10 wash. They did that, but still poorly. Where is the $100 value??? Wait, where is the $40 value? Clearly this is a complete scam by Genie, but I still hold Groupon responsible for putting this scam through. I want my money back!

I agree, this coupon was a complete JOKE. They don’t even offer a platinum package, or if they did at one time they don’t anymore. The closet thing they have is their VIP Wash for $55, which says “Executive wash plus Express Hand Wax.” That’s basically the same thing except you can’t trade the hand wax for a carpet clean. Remember we paid $40 for these coupons, so definitely not 60% off lol.

Regardless, I asked if the upholstery clean included the seats too and was told no, it would cost another $40. Heck a FULL interior detail package would have only been $90 LOL, that’s still less than this coupon is supposed to be worth! But instead I paid $40 plus another $40 to get the same thing. I spoke with the manager and after our discussion he agreed to “only” charge me $25 for the “upgrade” which is slightly better, but I’m still a little steamed. They should not be advertising this coupon as being worth $100 if it’s only worth $55. I wish that if they changed the packages they would just offer to give us an $80 or $100 credit towards services instead of ripping us off. I am so mad that I bought 2 of these, I really want my money back for the other. This is the first bad Groupon I’ve bought :(

Oh I also wanted to add, did you see where the text of the original post for the Groupon said…

“Although Yelpers and six Citysearchers give Genie Car Wash’s Lamar Boulevard location only two stars, The Austin Chronicle has awarded it Best Car Wash 12 times”

Apparently there is a reason they only have 2 stars lol, sorry chronicle.

Morgan Z.

Hi Everyone! Due to the inclement weather in Austin at the moment—Genie has generously offered to extend the expiration date of this offer by one week—so now it’s Nov. 19th!

Enjoy! Morgan w/ Groupon

Brian W.

I have never been to this business before and my wife’s vehicle was in serious need of a good cleaning. My service experience at the Burnett location was okay. They cleaned the outside pretty well but the inside was hit and miss. I think the groupon deal was still worth while but I would not pay retail for this service or go back to this place in the future. I just feel like there are better options such as Arbor Wash. Sometimes, (and usually) you get what you pay for.
