Germantown Salon

Germantown Salon's stylists, Lisa and Sue, have been adding color, shine, and shape to manes for more than three decades. Armed with products from GKhair, Schwarzkopf, Redken, and Wella, they trim and transform coiffures with skills earned from their years of salon experience and practice on nearby topiaries. The salon also gives back by hosting events such as a cut-a-thon to benefit breast cancer charity Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Some hair-straightening products that claim to be formaldehyde-free include aldehyde compounds, which are similar to the carcinogen formaldehyde. Side effects may include nosebleeds, headaches, vomiting, and respiratory problems, among others. Learn more about the health risks here.

The Groupon Guide to: The Little Engine That Could

The inspirational children's tale The Little Engine That Could was first published in 1906 as Story of the Engine that Thought It Could. Here are the other names the publisher considered before settling on the memorable final title:

  • The Little Engine That Couldn't (Or So He Thought!)
  • The Little Engine That Could Talk but That Wasn't the Most Amazing Part
  • The Little Wuss Train That Tricked Itself into Being Good Enough
  • Murder in Monaco: A Jack Trane Mystery
  • The Little Engine That Could Before Being Made Obsolete by Airplanes

When will airplanes finally be the only form of public transportation?
