Lewis and Clark were both hobbled during their great expedition—Clark from resentment at his second billing and Lewis from a lego slipped into his hiking boot by Clark. Enjoy noncompetitive nature excursions with this Groupon.

Choose from Three Options

On canyoneering trips, guides lead guests through winding canyons and sculpted sandstone cliffs in Southern Utah. They may help participants traverse the history-steeped red-rock canyons flanking Dirty Devil River, or scale parts of the 100-mile Waterpocket Fold, an exposed warp of layers in the Earth's crust, at Capitol Reef National Park.

On Family Adventure Day trips, the guides cater the destinations, wilderness activities, and hike pacing to adults and young children alike. With destination options in both Washington and Utah, adventurers might wade in mountain creeks, snowshoe up slopes and through forests, or explore dense undergrowth. This trip is for beginning-level hikers and climbers, and no previous experience is required; though adults should be able to carry packs weighing up to 20 pounds.

Visitors can snack on a meal of turkey or vegetarian sandwiches, chips, and granola bars on both trips.

Get In The Wild

Though he once dreamed of becoming an astronaut, Christopher Hagedorn instead found his passion on the Earth; he's worked as a national forest hydrologist, oceanography-engineering consultant, and mountaineering-and-wilderness-leadership instructor. After roaming the country on more than 30 extended wilderness trips, he came to rest in the North Cascade Mountains where he leads adventure day trips and wilderness-skills classes. He and his team of experienced guides lead explorers of all ages on Family Adventure Backpacking trips to secluded and mostly unknown destinations, tackling rocky beaches, mountain hillsides, and coniferous forests.

On mountaineering trips, Get In The Wild shows groups how to traverse North Cascades National Park's rugged peaks, roaring waterfalls, and glaciers without having to arm-wrestle bears for passage. Canyoneering trips explore the Dirty Devil River and Capitol Reef National Park, navigating historic sandstone cliffs, rocky domes, and winding canyons; and give photographers the chance to focus their lenses on the wilderness of Southern Utah. Throughout their adventures, the guides keep their charges fueled with gourmet camp food, preparing vegetarian, vegan, and kosher options upon request.

They also lead classes in hiking, glacier climbing, snow camping, canyoneering, and wilderness navigation to help adventurers blaze their own trails.

The Groupon Guide to: Cereal-Box Prizes

You, like most people, probably have fond childhood memories of your parents getting back from the grocery store with a brand-new box of kids' cereal, placing the box on the kitchen table in front of you, putting a hammer in your hand, and saying "You know what you need to do." Here are some prizes you can expect to find in a box of cereal:

  • Baby's First Cereal bib
  • Packet of "odor powder" that can be added to mask that gross milk smell
  • Plastic dog figurine that spews out fresh milk when squeezed
  • Glossy headshot of actor James Coburn signed "I like eating cereal too, young man."
  • Shrink-wrapped clump of more cereal
  • Spoon

Did James Coburn love Trix?
