what is a micro-USB connection? please explain what it is and what works with (iphone5, galaxsy S3, ipad, netbook)

Shayna F. asked 4 months, 10 days, 20 hours, and 8 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristi D.

It will work on the S3 and a majority of Android smartphones, it will also work on all the Samsung and most other Android tablets. This would not work on any of the Apple products as they all use their own specific charging methods that differ from any other device manufacturer. If you have any concern about your device, please check your owner's manual.

So you have stated in the answers section that these are NOT compatible with iPhone5 and many other iPhones. May I suggest that on the page advertising the product you be a little more articulate and save us the trouble of having to ask these questions. You should NOT say it is compatible with all MAC OS products as it is not and most people don't know what the heck a micro usb connection is. A list of what it IS or IS NOT compatible with would be far more helpful. Agreed?

Daniella S. asked 4 months, 12 days, 19 hours, and 49 minutes ago - 4 answers

Kristi D.

Sorry for the confusion Daniella! The USB 2.0 side of the cable is compatible with Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. The USB 2.0 part of the cable is the bigger side that plugs into the computer or power source. The micro-USB side of the cable is the part that plugs into the device you wish to use the cable for. This would not be compatible with Apple products, as they use a different connection. Micro-USB connections are used mostly by Android and Kindle to name a couple. If you have any questions as to what connection your device has, I suggest looking in the user manual or online.

Kristi D. answered 4 months, 12 days, 19 hours, and 38 minutes ago

Daniella any time you see a product listing that says its compatible with Mac OS X Windows keep in mind they are referring to the computer you are using not what phone you are using. It didn't say anything about iPhones in the listing and if you are using the iPhone 5 you should know that it's called a lightning connector and propiatary to apple and specifically the iPhone 5. Micro usb is used by most other cell phones that are out in the market. My personal opinion is it should be governent mandated that all cell phones use this type of cable to cut down on waste.

I wish there was a like button for this that is why I don't like shopping on groupon They are always trying to scam you!!!!

christina a. answered 4 months, 9 days, 18 hours, and 3 minutes ago

Kristi D.

Hi Christina! Sorry for the confusion. The info was clearly stated, but there was some confusion on the devices. John gives a really good explanation of the deal and that's why I posted it. We by no means try to scam anyone, and if we wrong people we always try to make it right and correct the situation.

The confusions lies over the "USB 2.0 compatible with Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows; syncs and charges nearly any smartphone, tablet, or Kindle with a micro-USB device" and again, the cable is compatible with a Mac computer or Windows computer because of the USB 2.0 connection, but cannot connect to any other Apple device on the other end of the cable because Apple items have a different connection than a micro-USB connection. I hope this helps to clear things up! Let us know if you have any other questions.
