Commonly Asked Questions

Can it also purify the air from smoke (by smoke I mean smoking) because I can't stand the smell of it? Thank you!

Hang N. asked 3 months, 19 days, 12 hours, and 23 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristi D.

They have tested the AirTamer with smoke in test labs since smoke particles are so small and represent a great test particle. The AirTamer is very effective at reducing smoke from a person's breathing space. The AirTamer is not a room air purifier - it is meant to clean the air around your head - about a 3 foot sphere is a good benchmark. The further your face is away from the AirTamer, the fewer ions will reach your breathing space, so we recommend hanging it from your neck.

Is this battery operated? If so, is the battery replaceable?

Pamela L. asked 3 months, 19 days, 10 hours, and 3 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristi D.

Yes, the AirTamer is powered by 2 replaceable, lithium coin cell batteries (CR2025 type-included). These batteries are available almost anywhere for about $3.00 - $5.00 per 2-pack. We only use and sell top quality Sony batteries.

More Questions and Answers

How does it work? Does it vacuum air into the device and blow clean air out?

Yan M. asked 3 months, 17 days, 19 hours, and 29 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristi D.

In a nutshell, the AirTamer emits negative ions from the little black brush that you see at the top. As mentioned, over 2 million negative ions are emitted from that brush every second. These negative ions will attach themselves to air particles like allergens, viruses, etc. in the air and negatively charge those particles. Those negatively charged particles will then be naturally attracted to positively charged surfaces around you (e.g. a table, chair, window, clothes, etc.), rather than continue their way towards your breathing passage. By doing this, the probability that you will inhale these bad particles goes down dramatically.

This is a personal device, so therefore could not be used to clean a whole room, but it would help the personal experience.

How long could you use this item? Is this good only for a year or so OR does it keep on working as long as the batteries are working? How long will this stream of negative ions disperse through the air? Do you need to re-charge this so it keeps on working? Thank you

Mercy R. asked 3 months, 18 days, 20 hours, and 6 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristi D.

As long as the batteries have a charge, the item will keep working. You need to replace the batteries after 7 days of 24 hour use (or about 168 hours of use).

Can this help to reduce chemical sensitivity reactions, by filtering out fragrances and other chemicals in the environment?

Jennifer G. asked 3 months, 19 days, 6 hours, and 4 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristi D.

Yes, VOCs are very small particles and the AirTamer will help. Again, it is a personal air purifier and can not clean a room filled with perfume, but it will help the user within their personal space.

Kristi D. answered 3 months, 17 days, 10 hours, and 37 minutes ago

How long an unit will last (not the battery life)? Other than battery should I need to replace anything else (like LED, filter etc)? Thanks

Monica F. asked 3 months, 19 days, 6 hours, and 52 minutes ago - 1 answer

Kristi D.

There are no moving parts, so it should last for several years, at least. There are no other items that will need replacing other than the battery.
