Do I have to have to install or have a peephole on my door?

Hi Krisha, Additionally, there is a new peephole included with the PHV, so all you need is to drill a 12 mm hole in the door if you dont currently have a peephole..

What is the exact process of attaching this device to my current peephole. The peephole is fairly new and I would rather leave it in if I can. Do I have to drill anything more if I am using the peephole that is currently in my door. How long does installation take. Can this device be moved later to a new house without damaging the door where I live now.

Rosemary A. asked 8 months, 14 days, 3 hours, and 40 minutes ago - 1 answer

Chris A.

Dear Rosemary, If you have a new peephole you can use it....that is not a problem. We provide a new peephole because many existing peepholes become cloudy over time. To install the PHV you simply unscrew your current peephole with the tool we provide ( it looks like a key ), and slip the inside half of the peephole through the flange we provide. The flange is like a big washer. Then screw the peephole back into the door., and snap the peephole onto the flange. It takes two or three minutes to install and does no damage whatso ever to your door. Yes. you can simply unscrew it from your door and take it with you when you move. I hope this helps. Thanks Chris

How long the battery lasts? and is the battery door accessible easily to change with out messing with the peephole installed?

Jayaraman R. asked 8 months, 14 days, 2 hours, and 54 minutes ago - 1 answer

Chris A.

Hi Jayaraman, The batteries will last for approx 1500 peeps, or views. You do not touch the peephole to replace the batteries, and it takes all of 30 seconds. Very easy to do.

Will this work on any type of door, no matter the material? And I think I saw where it was asked that if your door didn't have a peephole you can still use this, is that correct?

Yolanda D. asked 8 months, 13 days, 10 hours, and 38 minutes ago - 1 answer

Chris A.

Hi Yolanda, The PHV will work on doors of any material as long as they have a 12mm hole for a peephole, and are between 1.38 and 2.24 inches thick. Most doors sold in the USA, fall within that thickness range.

Hello, Will I be able to see kids at my door if they are not tall enough to be in the view of the peep hole? Christi

Christi P. asked 8 months, 12 days, 6 hours, and 25 minutes ago - 1 answer

Chris A.

Hi Christi I am afraid the PHV will not be able to see your kids if they are out of the range of the peephole, but if they stand back a foot or so from the door, they should be easy to see. I hope this helps.....

Is waterproof?

heidy C. asked 8 months, 13 days, 19 hours, and 44 minutes ago - 1 answer

Chris A.

Hi Heidy, The outside portion of the peephole that is exposed to the elements is very waterproof. The portion of the PeepHole Viewer that is on the inside of your door is not waterproof. I hope this helps.

My peephole is at a lower level since I use a wheelchair. Will this device allow me to see someone who is higher than my peephole (or will I be looking at people's stomachs like I do now)?

Jenny S. asked 8 months, 13 days, 20 hours, and 59 minutes ago - 1 answer

Chris A.

Hi Jenny, I am afraid it wont increase the field of view of the peephole, so you will not be able to see a higher angle. However it will allow you to move your peephole higher in the door because the LCD panel is designed to be seen from below, so if you place it higher, but where you can reach the button, you may very well be able to see the face of whos at the door. I hope it works for you.

i am only 4'8 would i still be able to see someone's face who is 6' tall?

Denise M. asked 8 months, 14 days, and 37 minutes ago - 1 answer

Chris A.

Hi Denise, yes, you will be able to see the display in the house and as long as the 6 foot person is a foot or so from the door, which is the norm, you will be able to see him easily. You will have no problem with this situation. Hope this helps..

What is the maximum broadcast range of the camera on the door? How far can I place the view screen from the door camera?

David R. asked 8 months, 14 days, 1 hour, and 36 minutes ago - 1 answer

Chris A.

Hi David, This model does not broadcast the image to any external display or device, it displays it on the LCD panel on the front of the PeepHole Viewer. I hope this answers your question.

Chris A. answered 8 months, 14 days, 1 hour, and 29 minutes ago

i have metal door with glass in the middle so only way i can make it fit is to put it up and down istead of side to side. wil this still wrk

David L. asked 8 months, 14 days, 2 hours, and 35 minutes ago - 1 answer

Chris A.

Hi David, The image displayed will be rotated 90 degrees, or sideways, so you will still be able to make out the persons features etc., you just may need to bend your neck a little.
