Questions and Answers

My 8mm Camcorder does not have the 3 connector RCA slots. It only has one AV OUT slot. The cable that normally comes out of it has only a yellow and a black connector at the other end. Can I buy one that has the red, white and yellow? What other options do I have?

Deborah C. asked 1 year, 1 month, 2 days, 10 hours, and 6 minutes ago - 1 answer

Customer Support

It sounds like your camcorder only supports mono sound. If that is the case, even you get a new RCA cable with yellow, red and white connectors, only one of the audio connections (white or red) will give you sound. Other than not getting stereo sound, the cable you have should work just fine.

Will this unit convert media stored on a digital PVR unit to DVD

nobu o. asked 1 year, 1 month, 2 days, 3 hours, and 53 minutes ago - 1 answer

Customer Support

It will work if your digital PVR has RCA output jacks. Some devices may have special copy-protection features, so we recommend that you check the manual of the PVR device.

i notice there is an S-video input(assuming) on capture device box. if i have only S-video out put on my mini dv camera (no RCA output). would that work as well? and do you have to directly burn irt to dvd writer or do you capture it to your computer(avi, wma, etc...) first? thanks

howard k. asked 1 year, 1 month, 2 days, 8 hours, and 16 minutes ago - 1 answer

Customer Support

The S-Video cable is for the video signal only. You will still need to use the audio (red&white for stereo or white/black for mono). The Easy Wizard Mode of the software will convert the tape into a DVD. If you use the Advanced Mode, all the recordings will be stored on your hard drive in MPEG1, MPEG2 or WMV format.

Will it transfer from 8mm to dvd

Dennis S. asked 1 year, 1 month, 2 days, 8 hours, and 21 minutes ago - 1 answer

VHS to DVD 4.0 Deluxe is a PC software with a USB capture device. You will need your own video player (i.e. VCR or camcorder) that can play the 8mm or HI-8 tapes that you want to convert. The video player must have AV/RCA output jacks.. You will also need a Windows PC with a DVD writer to convert your tapes to DVD.

I have the camera to play my 8 mm tapes alright, but I'm wondering if I need to have a fairly large hard drive on my computer in order to upload two hours of video at a time. Is the size of the hard drive a consideration in order for this to work?

David M. asked 1 year, 1 month, 2 days, 8 hours, and 36 minutes ago - 1 answer

Customer Support

If you use the best quality setting (highest bitrate), one hour video could take up to approximately 4GB of space. For 2 hour long video (depending on the quality/bitrate setting), the file size could be as little as 4GB or as large as 8GB. Generally we recommend that you have minimum 10GB of free space although more free space you have, faster your computer will handle the task.

From reading the other questions, it seems that I can transfer the video data directly to the PC hard drive, which I can then transfer via stick to my MAC. Would I then be able to use iMovie to edit it?

Lorraine H. asked 1 year, 1 month, 2 days, 11 hours, and 1 minute ago - 1 answer

Customer Support

Yes, if you record the video in default (DVD) format, the video will be recorded in MPEG2 format. You can then transfer the file to a Mac if you wish since MPEG2 format is starndard format that is recorgnized by most video editing software.

I have a number of 5 minute VHS videos--would it be possible to put them all on one DVD, or does each one have to go on it's own DVD?

Customer Support

Yes, you can merge short clips into one larger one before burning to a DVD.

can this work with a netbook (without CD drive)?

Phil H. asked 1 year, 1 month, 2 days, 11 hours, and 53 minutes ago - 1 answer

Customer Support

VHS to DVD 4.0 Deluxe is a PC software with a USB capture device. You will need a VCR and Windows PC to convert your VHS tapes to DVD. Generally the processor on netbooks are not fast enough to handle video recording in real-time and the resolution is too low to use the software. Will this software work with my Mac computer? Also, does the video take up memory on the hard drive?

Renee M. asked 1 year, 1 month, 2 days, 13 hours, and 26 minutes ago - 1 answer

Customer Support

Unfortunately it does not support Mac. It supports Windows PC only (7, Vista and XP SP2/3).
