Hello Lea, I am not familiar with the Nikon D40X, so I do not know how pictures are stored on that camera. I would assume that the pictures could be saved on an SD card. SInce this tablet does not have a SD card slot. You would have to insert the SD card into a computer or laptop and either transfer or copy the pictures to your computer/laptop and then move to either an microSD card which this tablet has a slot for OR, transfer the files from your computer/laptop to the tablet via USB connecting cable an storing them on a microSD card to save internal memory space. Your camera's manual probably has some directions on how to transfer picture files to other devices.
