Hi, I was concerned why the warranty is reduced from a normal 1 year warranty for a new laptop to a 90 day warranty for the refurbished product. Shouldn't the maker be willing to give us a normal 1 year warranty or because it is a refurbished maybe an 18 month warranty? Do you know why they restrict the warranty to 3 months?

Hi JJ! Sorry for the delay! Warranties included with refurbished items are generally shorter than warranties included with new items. Toshiba includes a 90 day warranty with their refurbished items.

Hello - sorry for more product spec questions but can you tell me the difference between a smart card reader and memory-card reader? I understand the laptop doesn't have a smart card reader. Also, I have a "PC-in" port on my TV -- can I use a regular VGA cable to connect the laptop to my TV?

A smart card is a standard-sized plastic card with an embedded integrated circuit chip which has memory and/or microprocessor functionality. Their functionality is a little more superior to that of a memory card (e.g. support of multiple applications, real time information writing, larger storage memory, etc.).

Hi, and thanks for your patience with all the questions. I don't see this one answered yet -- How easy is it to get rid of Windows 7 and install Linux on this machine? (After 5 years of using Ubuntu Linux, I need to upgrade my hardware, but there's NO way I'm going back to Windows! And I know that Microsoft has been making it harder and harder to get Windows off harddrives, hence my question.) Thanks in advance.
