As the final seconds of 2012 run out, revelers at Stereo Live celebrate with drinks, dancing, and DJs aided by a newly installed, top-of-the-line sound system. Egyptian trance stars Aly and Fila combine thudding beats and bright chord progressions into uplifting songs such as “We Control the Sunlight,” and DJ Shogun takes the stage to display the spinning skills that earned him a No. 68 ranking in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs. Seven bars manned by more than 15 bartenders keep celebratory concoctions flowing throughout the night, which culminates in a midnight toast as confetti made from shredded resolution lists drifts from the ceiling.
