In the world of Puerto Rican music, there are few figures as revered as composer Rafael Hernández. Throughout the 20th century, he crafted melodies that made masses sing and countries swing, including "Qué Chula es Puebla," the unofficial song of the Mexican state of Puebla, and "Linda Quisqueya," beloved throughout the Dominican Republic. But besides filling listeners with national pride, Hernández also composed romantic tunes that give them uncontrollable cases of stars in their eyes.
To celebrate the musical hero who brought joy to millions, Teatro SEA presents a special return engagement of their award-winning Rafael Hernández...Romance. The loving musical revue pays tribute to Hernández's life and works, with some of his most iconic songs performed by a nine-piece Latin orchestra and a sextet of singers from Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia. The Valentine's Day performance also features a gala reception, where fans can mingle with the show's cast and shyly pass them candy hearts. A Q&A session with the show's creators lets attendees learn about how the performance was put together.
