What You'll Do
Inspiration is a fundamental component for creativity, and you'll be surrounded by it during this watercolor painting class. In the main room of The Curator Gallery in Chelsea, you can admire the current exhibit's works while painting a masterpiece of your own with guidance from professional illustrator and watercolor maven Aaron Apsley. As you follow step-by-step instructions, you'll practice a variety of techniques and complete a watercolor painting inspired by an existing work of art, photograph, or still-life subject. A different painting will be taught each week, so returning students can create a new piece.

Professional Artist and Illustrator
The bustling streets and towering skyscrapers of New York City are Aaron Apsley's muse, a font of lively urban scenes that he brings to life in photorealistic watercolor paintings. He honed his keen ability to capture a scene at Savannah College of Art and Design, where he learned skills that are not only useful for him as a watercolor painter, but also as a professional illustrator. He regularly shares techniques he's learned over the years with students during his art classes.
