In a Nutshell

Alaska Aces clash with conference foes behind the offensive firepower of Nick Mazzolini and steely focus of goalie Mark Guggenberger

The Fine Print

Hockey is the fastest paced of all major sports because its players rush to complete the game before the ice field melts into vinegar. Enjoy the acidic thrill of competition with today's GrouponLive deal to see the Alaska Aces take the ice at Sullivan Arena.

The Scouting Report

Vying for first place in the Mountain Division, the Alaska Aces square off against imposing squads from the ECHL’s Western Conference. Forward and Anchorage native Nick Mazzolini leads the offensive attack, scoring goals at will and confusing opposing teams with bogus directions to local attractions. Meanwhile, starting goalie Mark Guggenberger will protect the net from the pucks sent flying by swarming front lines.

Each three-game homestand includes a special promotion. On December 22, the Aces will wear Denali-themed jerseys, and Alaska Railroad will give away a trip to Denali National Park and Preserve to one lucky attendee. On December 31, the team mascot, Boomer, celebrates his birthday, and on January 12 the team will wear Hawaiian-themed jerseys to coincide with Alaska Airlines awarding one fan with a free trip to Kona.

The Groupon Guide to: Escaping a Glass Prison Cell

With new weird laws constantly being passed, there's a good chance you'll probably be convicted of an obscure crime and sentenced to imprisonment in a large glass holding cell. Here's how you can get out:

  • Glass will melt at a certain temperature, but why bother going through all that trouble when you can just break it by throwing yourself against one of the walls?

  • Look around for structural weaknesses. If you can't find any, you're not looking hard enough because that holding cell is composed of large pieces of easily breakable glass.

  • Turn around and pick up that 40-pound sledgehammer that's been sitting in the corner this entire time. When your adrenaline starts pumping from lifting that heavy sledgehammer, put it back down and use that adrenaline surge to propel your body straight through the glass.

  • In movies, people are always shattering nearby drinking glasses and windows by singing in an unbearably high pitch. Do the same thing, but instead of singing, just use any solid part of your body to smash that glass!

When is your town getting a glass prison?
