What You'll Do
As the world moves towards the digital, a dedicated group of talented DIYers is committed to restoring the bespoke art of letterpress printing. Annemarie Munn, a master of the printed word and founder of the community studio Ladybones Print Collective, is one such aficionado. Head to her print shop to learn the history of letterpress printing within a group before using wood and lead type, vintage illustrations, and polymer plates or linoleum cuts to pull your own graphic poster.
- Make Your Own Take-Home Prints
Learn how to pull prints by hand as you make a simple graphic poster on an old-fashioned letterpress printer, the Vandercook SP-15
- Meet a Letterpress Printing Guru
Work under the tutelage of Annemarie Munn, founder of the community arts and printing center Ladybones Print Collective
Founder, Ladybones Print Collective
Although Annemarie Munn was introduced to letterpress from an early age through her father, a poet who received broadsides in the mail, it wasn’t until she started college that the art form entered her life full force. While earning her master’s in creative writing, she became fascinated with the physical aspects of creating books, and immersed herself in the letterpress printing revival. In addition to running her community studio, Ladybones Print Collective, Annemarie has served as Printer-In-Residence at the Center for the Book and managed the bindery at the hardcover case manufacturer DODOcase.
