In a Nutshell

311 and Slightly Stoopid join forces for Unity Tour 2012's cavalcade of rap-laced lyrics, thick guitars, and reggae grooves.

The Fine Print

Virtually nothing can defeat the raw power of rock music, with the possible exception of paper music. Pump your fist with this GrouponLive deal to see 311 and Slightly Stoopid at Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach on Tuesday, July 24, at 7 p.m. Choose between the following options:

  • For $11, you get one G-Pass for general-admission lawn access (up to a $25 value, including all fees).
  • For $20, you get one G-Pass for reserved seating in the back of the 200 level (up to a $45.50 value, including all fees).

Because the ticket is a G-Pass, Groupon customers can use it to enter the venue directly; they will not need to redeem their Groupon at will call.

This summer on the Unity Tour 2012, 311 and Slightly Stoopid roll through the continent with their signature trippy reggae beats and distorted guitar thrashing. 311’s five-piece band broke out of Omaha in the mid-'90s with its blend of sing-along choruses and raspy lyrics, propelled into the microphone by dueling vocalists S.A. Martinez and Nick Hexum. Their triple-platinum, self-titled album scored the first and second spots on the Billboard charts with the guitar-soaked rap of “Down” and the funky bass of “All Mixed Up.”

Slightly Stoopid throws similar rock-laced beats throughout a discography that stretches back to a self-titled release in 1996. During their live sets, guitar and conga players wander fearlessly along deep grooves into rambling jams, stretching the track in surprising directions, like a walrus trying to shimmy into sweatpants. The Aggrolites aim to uncover the golden-era ska and reggae sounds buried beneath the '90s fuzz of the headliners in a live show they've honed over years of touring with the British and Jamaican legends they idolize.

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.

The Groupon Guide to: Billiards Variations

Most casual pool players are familiar with some version of eight ball, where stripes and solids compete to clear their own balls off the table before sinking the eight. However, this is just one of hundreds of ways to “play pool.” What are others?

  • Snooker
  • Snorker
  • No-Pocket Bounce’about
  • Stripes vs. Skins
  • Cowboy Pool (played on horseback)
  • Nothin’ but Fours
  • Gunpool (no cues; you shoot the balls into the pockets with guns)
  • Texas No-Ball
  • Love-Style (winner marries loser)

If you lose to someone at pool, are you legally required to marry them?
