In a Nutshell

Dazzling show tells the origin story of Batman's sidekick, Robin, amid magnificent set pieces and a custom Batmobile

The Fine Print

Bruce Wayne famously chose the bat as his superhero persona because it struck fear into the hearts of criminals and the costume design proved easier than Commitment-Man. Witness his exploits firsthand with this GrouponLive deal to see Batman Live at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Doors for all shows open one hour before showtime. Choose from the following options:

  • For $54, you get one G-Pass for 100-level seating (up to an $89.35 value, including all fees).
  • For $35, you get one G-Pass for front 200-level seating (up to a $57.75 value, including all fees).
  • For $28, you get one G-Pass for rear 200-level seating (up to a $46.80 value, including all fees).

For each option, choose from the following shows:

  • Tuesday, December 4, at 7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, December 5, at 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, December 5, at 7:30 p.m.

Plot

Batman Live weaves a coming-of-age tale with appearances from the caped crusader's most famous friends and foes. After an opening that recounts the iconic hero's tragic origins, the show jumps forward to the tale of Dick Grayson, who becomes Bruce Wayne's ward and crime-fighting partner, Robin. Moving through Gotham City's underworld, the two tangle with such iconic villains as the Penguin, Poison Ivy, and Two-Face before a climactic showdown with the Joker.

The Sights

Fabulous set pieces include the dark, twisting Batcave, the Penguin's lurid, pink- and purple-tinted Iceberg Lounge, and the decaying Gothic labyrinth of Arkham Asylum, as acrobats and high-wire artists swirl around the martial-arts theatrics of the lead actors. Dazzling, custom technology adds extra dazzle to the show, including a Batmobile conceived by legendary racecar designer Gordon Murray and a 100-foot, bat-shaped LED screen praised by the Guardian as "the real star of the show" for its action-complementing high-definition images and gracious post-performance autograph signing.

The Players

Batman Live's stunning fights and gravity-defying stunts were conceived by British choreographer Anthony Van Laast, whose credits include worldwide tours of Mamma Mia! and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; U.S. tours of Jesus Christ Superstar and My Fair Lady; and staging for Siegfried and Roy's Las Vegas show. Technical director Jake Berry brings the engineering know-how of his eponymous production house, which created the mind-melting spectacles of U2's 360 Tour and Walking With Dinosaurs – The Live Arena Show.

Accolades

Originally opening in England before its U.S. tour, the show garnered positive reactions from the London press, including the Telegraph, which lauded it as a "live-action drama stuffed with dazzling special effects, retina-popping visuals and improbable feats of highwire derring-do, all choreographed within a Catwoman's whisker of perfection."

The Groupon Guide to: Local Commercials

No matter the business, these premises for local commercials are sure to get customers lining up to your door—assuming they watch a lot of daytime and late-night television. Try any of the following ideas:

  • A man in a gorilla costume jumps up and down on a used car for being too expensive.
  • A frighteningly incomplete computer-animated leprechaun says your store’s mattresses “are no SHAM—they ROCK!”
  • A black-and-white close-up of an old woman looking frightened. When the old woman uses your product or service, the picture returns to color as normal.
  • All text! Can’t go wrong with text!
  • Retired minor-league baseball pitcher Carey Mazzuchellio throws a baseball … right at the camera? No, not really, but it sure looks like it once the graphics come together.

How can a local commercial transform your local business?
