In a Nutshell

Three outdoor stages thrum with chart-toppers and rising stars, including Sunny Sweeney, Eric Paslay, and Nashville-style singer-songwriters

The Fine Print

Country musicians often sing about persevering through hard times, whether growing up poor, tussling in bars, or fighting society's bias against wearing ten-gallon hats to the movies. Savor the sweet sounds of tough luck with this GrouponLive deal to Country Throwdown, featuring Gary Allan, Rodney Atkins, and Josh Thompson at Toyota Park in Bridgeview. For $19, you get one G-Pass for general-admission seating on Saturday, June 30, at 3:30 p.m. (up to a $53.55 value, including all fees). Because the ticket is a G-Pass, Groupon customers can use it to enter the venue directly; they will not need to redeem their Groupon at will call. This Groupon does not cover the cost of parking, which is $20 at the stadium; guests are welcome to bring folding chairs but may not bring blankets.

For the third year in a row, Country Throwdown stampedes into wide-open outdoor venues with a dream team of current and future country-music superstars. With seven million records sold and a stable of top-10 hits, rowdy honky-tonk wrangler Gary Allan headlines the festival with raucous energy. Firing off hits such as “Tough Little Boys” and “Get Off on the Pain,” Allan allures with outlaw swagger and a voice as deep and rugged as Sam Elliott’s wallet. Rodney Atkins, known for monster-truck hits such as “Watching You” and “Cleaning This Gun,” performs with an every-guy grin that could charm the britches off a clothesline.

Rising stars and harmonic raconteurs Josh Thompson, Sunny Sweeney, and Eric Paslay fill up the Throwdown’s two main stages. Meanwhile, a crop of acoustic singer-songwriters occupies the Bluebird Café Tent in intimate sets throughout the day.

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.

The Groupon Guide to: Escaping Your Past

Your past is a haunted place full of people, experiences, and secret government tests you’d rather forget. Follow these steps to clear your mind and your record:

  • Cut ties with your family, friends, and anyone who has a copy of your dental records.

  • Fake your own death using whichever method your father taught you when you were a kid.

  • Secretly attend your own funeral. Write something self-deprecating in the memorial book so that no one suspects that you’re still alive and attending your own funeral.

  • Change your name to be the same as your favorite celebrity. The fun of having a celebrity name will take your mind off of the all the crying you did when you found out you were dead.

  • Help yourself forget about all that stuff by filling your brain with the names of as many different horse breeds and horse facts as you can remember.

  • Congratulations! You’re ready to restart your life as “Freddie Prinze Jr., Celebrity Horse Trainer”.

How can you prove that you weren’t at your own funeral?
