In a Nutshell

Classic country singer gets crowds boot-scooting along to songs from 17-album catalog in Christmas concert with David Nail and Jana Kramer

The Fine Print

Country music harks back to a more courteous era, when kids still called women "ma'am" and men "daddy ma'am." Tip your hat to the good ol' days with this GrouponLive deal to see the WIRK Country Christmas with Alan Jackson at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach. For $23, you get one G-Pass for upper-level seating in sections 4–8 on Saturday, December 1, at 4 p.m. (up to a $46 value, including all fees). Because the ticket is a G-Pass, Groupon customers can use it to enter the venue directly; they will not need to redeem their Groupon at will call.

The 103.1 WIRK radio station decks the halls with bows of howdy with its star-studded Country Christmas concert, headlined by Grammy-winning singer Alan Jackson. In the first 12 years of his career, Jackson scored 20 No. 1 singles and 20 Top 10 hits. A decade later, one of the most popular male country singers of the 1990s still induces knee weakness with his resonating baritone voice, steady guitar strumming, and light-brown mustache, a facial accessory that promised to never pursue a solo career in exchange for a 10% cut of his record sales. In support of his latest album, Thirty Miles West, he takes the stage at Cruzan Amphitheatre, soothing souls with his laid-back brand of gospel-inspired honky-tonk, marked by lyrics often influenced by tragedy. For instance, in an attempt to make sense of the aftermath of September 11, he penned “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning),” a tear-jerking ballad that became his first single to appear on pop Top 30 charts. Cranking out tunes from his 17 studio albums, he plows through crowd pleasers and lesser-known numbers from his latest album, pausing occasionally to let his backup band, The Strayhorns, steal the spotlight with a blurry-fingered fiddle solo or a stirring recitation of the Gettysburg Address.

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter David Nail croons like a southern Sinatra during his No. 1 hit "Let It Rain" and his broken-spoke take on Adele's "Someone Like You." Also opening for Jackson, former One Tree Hill actress-turned-country-chanteuse Jana Kramer breaks hearts with an earnest, folksy voice that lends a stinging authenticity to hits such as "Why Ya Wanna." The Lost Trailers kick off the twangy sleigh ride with their own crackerjack singles, from the humorous "Holler Back" to "American Beauty," an ode to small-town romance.

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.
