In a Nutshell

Billboard's Band of the Decade extends its hard-hitting tour loaded with visual effects and a catalog of platinum hits

The Fine Print

In today's genre-cluttered musical climate, it's easy to forget that rock 'n' roll is supposed to be raw. It’s supposed to be lusty. It’s supposed to make you want to drive fast, party hard, and pine for girls you know are trouble. And if it doesn’t have a hook, don’t bother playing it. Catch a band that never forgot what rock ‘n’ roll is about with this GrouponLive deal to see Nickelback perform with special guests Bush and My Darkest Days at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. For $20, you get one general-admission lawn G-Pass for Tuesday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m. (up to a $48 value, including all fees).

This deal includes early entry, allowing Groupon customers to enter 15 minutes before the doors officially open. The coupon code on the voucher will also get Groupon holders a 20% discount on regular merchandise at Nickelback.com until August 31. Because the ticket is a G-Pass, Groupon customers can use it to enter the venue directly; they will not need to redeem their Groupon at will call.

Having honed their chops on their first two albums, Curb and The State, Chad Kroeger and Co.'s major breakthrough came in 2001 with the smash single “How You Remind Me” from their third album, Silver Side Up. The record piled riffs that chugged like a locomotive running on lava atop lyrics that appealed to everyone’s inner angel and devil. Needless to say, it transformed Nickelback into an inescapable juggernaut. Named Band of the Decade by Billboard in 2009, Nickelback has sold nearly 45 million albums worldwide, placed 20 singles on the charts, and seen its new seventh release, Here and Now, debut at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 and spawn four hit singles so far with “When We Stand Together,” "Bottoms Up,” “Lullaby,” and “This Means War.” The record is the biggest international release in Nickelback’s history and includes a No. 1 debut in Canada.

Due to popular demand, the band is extending its North American tour behind the born-platinum Here and Now. As drummer Daniel Adair recently told Billboard, this tour promises the band's “biggest, baddest, most over-the-top show yet." Expect expanded peripheries from special effects and pyrotechnics while the group blazes through hit after horsepowered hit. Special guest Bush brings barnstorming camaraderie to the tour as singer Gavin Rossdale growls grunge-tinged hits such as "Everything Zen" and "Machinehead." Also along for the trek is My Darkest Days.

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.

Saratoga Performing Arts Center

Originally conceived as a summer residence for the New York Philharmonic, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center took shape in the bustling '60s, eventually evolving away from its intentions and becoming the residence for the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York City Ballet. Set amid the 2,400-acre Spa State Park, which is rife with pines, hiking trails, geysers, and mineral springs, the 10-story amphitheater acts as a fitting haven for the arts. Before or after a show, guests can traverse the grounds to enjoy fresh air and a break from the city's frequent giant-lizard attacks or stop by the Jazz Bar for a drink.

The Groupon Guide to: Breaking Tension

Many of life’s situations will thrust you into a moment of tension, be it an interpersonal conflict, an awkward silence, or an indeterminate stare from an animal that may or may not eat human flesh. Break these common moments of tension:

Situation: While on a casual baseball-park outing with a coworker, the two of you pop up on the “Will-You-Marry-Me” JumboTron cam.
Break the Tension: “Looks like you were made for me! By which I mean, biologically speaking, I essentially see you as furniture.” (Close with a firm handshake)

Situation: As an adult, you walk in on your father applying clown makeup for a gig at a local birthday party.
Break the Tension: “I respect you, but I don’t want to be you.” (Close with a firm handshake)

Situation: You are stuck on an elevator with a former romantic partner who you unceremoniously dumped.
Break the Tension: “I know I’m the last person you want to be here with right now, and we have a history, but there is a prophecy that a child conceived between floors shall, in life, know no walls. We should at least briefly consider the merits of taking this moment alone together to bear this modern God-King.” (No matter their response, close with a firm handshake)

What secret powers will a baby conceived on an elevator possess?
