The Big Easy Rollergirls take no prisoners during competitive, yet friendly matches of all-girls roller derby. On Saturday, August 25, captains Coalminer’s Slaughter and Lacy Underalls lead their troops against the Red Stick Roller Derby Diables Rouges during a Women’s Flat Track Derby Association–sanctioned bout. While blockers out-skate and out-shove each other as they circle the track, each team’s jammer attempts to earn points by breaking through the pack. Throughout the bout, a full snack bar serves bites and beer as ice cold as the referees’ impartiality.
