In a Nutshell

Troupe performs interactive comedy show inspired by drinking, barhopping, and male-female relations

The Fine Print

Winston Churchill was famous for the high standards he applied to alcohol, quipping that "Liquor is quicker, but get me a single-malt scotch with moon rocks in it! I'm the English president!" Be like ol' Winnie with this GrouponLive deal to see a Friday-night showing of Bye Bye Liver: The Chicago Drinking Play at The Pub Theater at Fizz Chicago. For $20, you get two tickets for general admission (a $40 value, including all fees). Choose from the following dates:

  • August 31
  • September 7
  • September 14
  • September 21
  • September 28

For each date, choose the 8 p.m. or the 10 p.m. performance.

Performed by a wily band of funnypeople, Bye Bye Liver: The Chicago Drinking Play is an interactive sketch-comedy show that celebrates the consumption of adult beverages. Each performance flows through a series of vignettes parodying the intoxicating world of drinking and male-female relations. From the infamous women's restroom to that friend who should never drink, the familiar perils of barhopping are broken down by the Bye Bye Liver players. Interactive games played during the show, including Never Have I Ever and Would You Rather, sledgehammer the fourth wall, fusing the estranged cast and audience into a chummy bunch of suds-soaked pals. All shows are for those 21 and older, in accordance with the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Now 5+ years old, Bye Bye Liver is the latest export from the Chicago comedy scene to have runs in cities such as Boston, Nashville, and Toronto. The Chicago Tribune heralded it a “smashed hit” for being at the forefront of fusing theater and bar into a single super-setting that lets audiences have more fun than making prank calls from the Oval Office phone.

The Groupon Guide to: Types of Potatoes

When making your first foray into advanced potato dishes, you may be asked by your cookbook to use a specific kind of potato because of its unique color, texture or starchiness. Parse your tubers with this helpful potato guide:

Russet Potatoes
* Shape: Potato-shaped
* Skin, Flesh: Traditional “potato brown” skin that peels semifreely from a dry flesh that ranges from white to yellow
* Best Uses: Blanched to tenderness before being chucked at parked cars as a goof

French Fingerling
* Shape: Potato-shaped (smaller)
* Skin, Flesh: Waxy pink skins conceal yellow flesh
* Best Uses: Ironically, these “French” potatoes cannot be french-fried as they immediately dissolve if exposed to any manner of liquid and are therefore primarily fed raw to horses or chucked at parked cars for a laugh

Bananas
* Shape: Hilarious
* Skin, Flesh: Sturdy yellow rind protecting soft white flesh
* Best Uses: Cut up in a bowl of cereal, blend into a smoothie to add a creamy texture and mild flavor, or chuck at parked cars on a lark

Which potato is the best for throwing at cars?
