The Scouting Report

As the 2013 MLS season hits its stride, the Chicago Fire lace their cleats with hopes of following up an electric 2012 campaign and securing a second-straight playoff berth. Last season was the Chicago Fire’s strongest in the post-shootout era—tying the team record with 17 wins and 57 points—and this year’s team returns many of the same faces. Last year’s leading goal scorer, Chris Rolfe, has already made an impact in the young 2013 season, ripping a goal in the sixth game of the season. Sure-handed goalie Sean Johnson—whose 108 saves last year were third-most in the league—has already accrued 17 saves, protecting the net as though he had spent the pre-game building a house of cards inside the goal.
