During his current show, “Reflections,” illusionist Christian Ford plumbs the depths of his audience’s imagination to delight and astound. As Ford meditates on love, life, and loss, he punctuates inspirational soliloquies with sleight of hand and grand illusions. A magical milk carton may pour both apple juice and cola or a whirling saw blade may slide through an assistant’s neck without injuring him, but no matter what form Ford’s tricks take they leave audiences more shocked than the Tin Man caught in a lightning storm. Before the show, appetizers, entrees, and desserts from the gourmet menu barrage taste buds with pot stickers stuffed full of duck or tilapia brushed with Cajun spices.

Encore Theatre

The lights go out and the chandeliers overhead rise out of sight, expanding the space beneath to hold more of the audience’s wonder. In front of them, a table clad in a white cloth holds the afterimage of a satisfying meal. But now the focus turns away from the table, away from desserts of cheesecake, to a stage glowing in blue and red. Modeled after a 1940s nightclub, Encore Theatre wows crowds with big-band tributes, magical feats, and other family-focused shows, harking back to a simpler time where the World Wide Web was nothing more than the collective debris of Spider-Man’s adventures.
