In a Nutshell

British tribute act re-creates Pink Floyd experience in greatest-hits set with authentic sounds, elaborate set design, and hypnotic light

The Fine Print

Much like Civil War reenactments, rock 'n' roll tribute acts give fans the chance to experience history without lofty ticket prices or having to forge their own musket balls. Keep the lead off your hands with this GrouponLive deal to see Brit Floyd presents P-U-L-S-E 2013 at the Akron Civic Theatre. For $14, you get one ticket for balcony seating on Sunday, March 3, at 7 p.m. (up to a $29.50 value). Doors open at 6 p.m.

The senses are stuffed with aural and visual excess as English tribute act Brit Floyd re-creates the sonic mind expansion and visceral enlightenment of a real Pink Floyd concert. Backed by a quintet choir of chanteuses, the British band of highly trained virtuosos pulls out the stops for their 2013 P-U-L-S-E tour. Thanks to their skilled musicianship, loving renditions of full album sides from The Wall, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, The Division Bell, and Animals come crackling to electric life. The elaborate stage setup swirls with metamorphic lasers and lighting, and avant-garde screen projections of Floydian animation, giving fans the closest thing to seeing a Pink Floyd show without being miniaturized and injected into their uncle’s subconscious.

Akron Civic Theatre

The medieval carvings, European antiques, and Italian alabaster sculptures at the Akron Civic Theatre absorb the ascending harmonies of symphony concerts and heavy rock ‘n’ roll alike. Built in 1929 to resemble a Moorish castle, the venue has maintained much of its historic charm, including the exceedingly rare atmospheric ceiling, in which stars twinkle and clouds float by as mesmerizingly as the last few corn flakes atop a bowl of milk.

The Groupon Guide to: Cinnamon-Challenge Winners

Known colloquially as the cinnamon challenge, this potentially dangerous but popular dare spawned thousands of online videos wherein people tried to eat an entire spoonful of cinnamon—more difficult than it sounds. Do you have what it takes to join the ranks of these cinnamon-challenge champions?

Huck "Hungry" Kowalczyk: Bravely ate a spoonful of cinnamon even though it was his birthday

"Lovely" Lucy Peters: Inhaled entire spoonful of cinnamon using cinnamon stick as a straw

Brick "The Stick" Bancroft: Didn't even cry or say F words

Gwen "Has a Cousin" Havisham: Never did the cinnamon challenge herself but reportedly has a cousin who ate two things of cinnamon

Doug "Dougie" Durcelli: Heroically dove in front of a spoonful of cinnamon before a dog could eat it and get sick

Who is the greatest cinnamon-challenge champion of all time? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
