In a Nutshell

Duo of comics embodies the best of Italian culture in an uproarious act that skewers family, food, and other idiosyncrasies

The Fine Print

Many standup comedians offer hilarious observations about everyday things, such as how men and women are different or why we should live in constant fear of the all-powerful sun's unchecked control over our feeble planet. Laugh away your worries with this GrouponLive deal to see The Guidos Of Comedy at The Royal House. This deal is valid for any performance though February 4; shows are scheduled at 7 p.m. every Friday–Sunday. Doors open at 6 p.m. A two-drink minimum applies that is not included in this deal. Choose between the following ticketing options:

  • For $20, you get two general-admission tickets (up to a $97.79 value, including all fees).
  • For $30, you get four general-admission tickets (up to a $195.58 value, including all fees).

Composed of Tommy T and Mikey V—comedians who have honed their chops on HBO and Spike TV—The Guidos Of Comedy transports audiences to the Old World with riotous reflections on life as an Italian American. Stepping onto the stage of the luxurious Royal House lounge, the duo searches out hidden belly laughs with monologues that touch on such topics as their youthful desire to be like the gangsters they saw in movies, despite their decidedly non-gangster upbringings. Songs and energetic patter mix up the evening's flow, fully immersing each audience member in the familial, Mediterranean vibe.

Bonkerz Comedy Club

The first Bonkerz Comedy Club was founded in Wisconsin in 1984, when nightclub-owning brothers Joe and John Sanfelippo and best friend George Maltezos decided that it was more fun and less of a hassle to book comedians than musicians. Nearly 30 years later, Bonkerz has grown into a major comedy institution, with branches reaching as far as Florida, Georgia, Maryland, and Nevada. Winner of several awards for Best Comedy Club and Venue, Bonkerz Comedy Club has kept the laughter rolling throughout the years with whoopee cushions installed in every seat and sets by greats such as Jerry Seinfeld, Larry the Cable Guy, and Saturday Night Live's Daryl Hammond. As the official audition site for NBC’s America’s Got Talent, the chain continues to feed tomorrow’s brightest comics to the national spotlight.

The Groupon Guide to: Award-Winning Documentaries

Critics have described this year’s crop of award-winning documentary films as “exciting,” “revelatory,” and “boring in the middle.” Here are the plot summaries for this season’s best documentaries:

  • A man only washes himself with industrial car-wash fluid for an entire year to prove that industrial car-wash fluid is bad for you.

  • A group of preteen world handwriting champions prepare for the greatest challenge yet—signing their own permission slips.

  • A woman who accidentally locked herself in her closet for five years reassimilates to living in the rest of her house.

  • A man who starred in an embarrassing 1980s public-service announcement about the dangers of eating shellfish has his humiliating past dug up by a documentary film crew.

  • A group of people who were born without joints in their toes climbs Mount Kilimanjaro.

  • The terrifying secret about how ice cream is made

  • A bunch of people who did drugs together at an abandoned airplane hangar in the ‘70s get back together to talk about it.

  • One man sets out to expose the problem with the country’s public schools by enrolling his dog in the country’s public schools and seeing if they notice.
