Er Conde de Guacharo

From the impoverished community of Musipán in Monagas, Benjamín Rausseo has vaulted to the top of Venezuela's comedy scene. His character, Er Conde de Guacharo (Da Count of Guacharo), waxes humorous on everything from current events to dating, but it's his take on politics that has blurred the lines between comedy and reality. In 2006, expressing his frustration with the current political structure in his home country, Er Conde ran for president against Hugo Chavez. Although he lost, that same level of daring continues to infuse his live shows. Tapping into a seemingly endless supply of frenetic energy, as well as the daredevil skills he learned as a stunt performer on Sábado Sensacional, he weaves music and physical comedy together into commentary and satire.
