A comedy institution since 2004, the Vancouver Comedy & Arts Fest amasses up-and-coming talent alongside established stars for a festive celebration of the international comedy circuit and the guts it has busted. Set against the city’s majestic backdrop, the 10-day humour retreat has attracted many of today’s biggest comedy stars, along with the forefathers who set the stage for modern stand-ups. Lafflines Comedy Club

Built as the Columbia Theatre in 1927, Lafflines Comedy Club has undergone major renovations to return it to the stunning glory of its vaudevillian years. In the lobby, gold ceiling trim recreates the original fixtures, surrounding an atmospheric fresco that depicts the sky and clouds to keep avian guests from feeling claustrophobic. Similarly, the Baby Grand room where the comedians perform has been refurbished with a baby-blue acoustic ceiling treatment.
