In a Nutshell

The AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, the Hamilton Bulldogs take the ice for their home opener against the Toronto Marlies

The Fine Print

Hockey is the fastest paced of all major sports, because its players rush to complete the game before the ice field melts into vinegar. Enjoy the acidic thrill of competition with this GrouponLive deal to see the Hamilton Bulldogs' 2012–13 season home opener against the Toronto Marlies at Copps Coliseum on Friday, October 19, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Choose between the following options:

  • For $23, you get two tickets for seating in sections 101–105, 111–119, or 125–128 (up to a $40.80 value, including fees).
  • For $32, you get two tickets for seating in sections 107–109 or 121–123 (up to a $66 value, including fees).

The American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, the Hamilton Bulldogs defend the ice at Copps Coliseum against the Toronto Marlies in their first home game of the 2012–13 season. Winners of the Calder Cup in 2007, the team looks to get back on track after a disappointing 34–35–2–5 campaign in 2011–12 with contributions from young winger Aaron Palushaj, who skated his way to 15 goals, 20 assists, and countless lightning-fast water breaks in 35 appearances last season before debuting in the NHL. On defence, goaltender Cedrick Desjardins returns after leading the AHL with a .932 save percentage and an average of 2.11 goals allowed each game, third in the league. Known as the Dog Pound to diehard fans, Copps Coliseum is the home of team mascot Bruiser the Bulldog, who leads legions of red-and-blue-clad supporters to support the team with thunderous howls, menacing growls, and puppy-eyed pleas for food from the concession stand.

Hamilton Bulldogs

The American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, the Hamilton Bulldogs came into the AHL as tiny, puck-hungry puppies back in 1996. Over the next decade, the team quickly established itself as a dominant force, reaching the playoffs in eight of its first ten seasons. And it was during that tenth season that the Bulldogs reached maturity and shed their puppy skins, claiming the Calder Cup for the very first time in 2007.

Today, the team plays all of its home games at Copps Coliseum—known as the Dog Pound to diehard fans. The Coliseum is the home of team mascot Bruiser the Bulldog, who leads legions of red-and-blue-clad supporters to support the team with thunderous howls, menacing growls, and puppy-eyed pleas for food from the concession stand.

The Groupon Guide to: Inspiration

Inspiration is everywhere, if you know where to look. What are some sure-fire ways to shatter writer's block and unleash the creative torrents within?

  • Observe natural phenomena, such as a rainbow or a sheep slipping in some mud.
  • Write down everything that happens in your favorite movie, but make it about … yourself?
  • Watch the free-flowing imaginations of two children crafting a complex pretend universe—this can inspire you to comment on what a waste of time it was.
  • Put on some jazz records and listen to the notes they're not playing. These inaudible notes aren't copyrighted, and they can be yours!
  • Drink a whole thing of coffee. Even if this makes things immeasurably worse, at least you technically finished something today.

Is inspiration real? As the top science poets believe, yes.
