In a Nutshell

Ball-spinning antics abound as this world-famous exhibition basketball team dazzles in a comic and athletic performance

The Fine Print

With their distinctive, red, white, and blue candy-striped uniforms, the Harlem Globetrotters are instantly recognizable on most courts and maddeningly difficult to guard during pickup games in barber-pole factories. Witness basketball at its most colorful with this GrouponLive deal to see the Harlem Globetrotters play at BMO Harris Bank Center. For $41, you get one Magic Pass plus a G-Pass for seating in sections 103–106 or 119–122, rows C–F, or sections FL1 or FL3, rows B–C, on Sunday, January 6, at 2 p.m. Doors open at noon for ticket holders with a Magic Pass. Magic Passes grant access to a special 30-minute exhibition of tricks and hands-on basketball fun with the players from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.; pass holders also get the chance to meet the Globetrotters and their mascot, Globie, and to collect autographs.

Since forming in the 1920s, the Harlem Globetrotters have continued to entertain millions of parents, children, and general basketball admirers with a trademark blend of athletic precision and razzle-dazzle showmanship. For the team's 2012 tour, a rotating roster of Globetrotter favorites take to the hardwood each game, so spectators might spot Special K sharing a behind-the-back pass with dunker Quake, whose high jump once cleared 7 feet, cruelly dashing his dreams of working in a ceiling-fan store. The Globetrotters might also present a study in contrasts with 5-foot-2 Too Tall and 7-foot-8 Tiny, the world's tallest pro basketball player.

During each Globetrotters game, youngsters laugh along and witness the jovial jocks performing classic routines of unconventional passing and sudden transmutations of water into confetti. Having performed in 120 countries and on all six penguin-overrun continents, the Globetrotters are one of the few teams inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as ambassadors of the sport.

Because the ticket is a G-Pass, Groupon customers can use it to enter the venue directly; they will not need to redeem their Groupon at will call.

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.

The Groupon Guide to: Mysterious Found Objects

There are important cultural artifacts all around us—in garbage cans, the gutter, or hung mysteriously out of human reach over power lines. What is the secret significance of these urban anomalies?

Sneakers: This person most likely exploded.

One Sneaker: Oh man, this person definitely exploded.

Inside-Out Umbrella: Either this umbrella couldn't hold up to a gusty wind and proved to be more trouble than it was worth or its owner exploded.

Pile of Cigarette Ash: Or the remains of an exploded person—who can tell?

A Candy Wrapper: Obviously someone suddenly exploded, as no one would be thoughtless enough to just throw garbage on the ground. Search around nearby to see if you can also score a free umbrella or one sneaker.

How does one sneaker mysteriously end up in the street? The answer revealed.
