Hope, Dream, Happiness

According to her website, dancer and instructor Mami Hariyama wants her new show Hope, Dream, Happiness to do nothing less than to “cultivate the spirit of the arts in young people.” To that end, the performance is designed specifically for a younger crowd. Dancers of all ages move to music that ranges from classical to swing, tapping out rhythms or channeling graceful fowl for scenes from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. Accompaniment is provided by a live ensemble, featuring violinist and International Tchaikovsky Competition medalist Mayuko Kamio. And each plié, attitude, and curtsy is for a good cause—the event’s proceeds will benefit children’s ballet scholarships.
