Teddy Riley & Blackstreet Featuring Dave Hollister

Instant success is rare; instant platinum-certified success even rarer. Blackstreet, however, has experienced both. Their self-titled debut was released in 1994, achieving monumental sales thanks to top-ten hit “Before I Let You Go,” a plea for understanding and a kiss goodnight. But the group didn’t stop there—their next effort, Another Level, featured their chart-topping Dr. Dre collaboration “No Diggity.” The album went quadruple-platinum, and Blackstreet took home a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Though their roster has been in flux ever since, original members Teddy Riley (the successful producer for Keith Sweat and Heavy D & the Boyz), Chauncey Black, and Dave Hollister still maintain the ensemble’s Dre-given status as “the original rump-shakers.”

House of Blues Houston

To keep the spirit of its musical roots ever near, House of Blues Houston keeps a metal box of mud from the Delta Mississippi beneath its stage and proudly displays the traditional crazy quilt. As the only venue in the revered chain to be built vertically rather than free floating, House of Blues Houston stands as a pillar of entertainment in the Houston Pavilions complex. The hot spot’s Bronze Peacock Room commemorates Houston's rich history and the blues clubs where Lightnin' Hopkins and Big Mama Thornton held sway, and features an enormous hand-painted mural depicting other local legends such as Albert Collins and Johnny "Guitar" Watson.
