In a Nutshell

Famously outspoken culinary giant and television personality dishes out frank, funny, and provocative kitchen philosophies

The Fine Print

Although it’s common for chefs to be treated like rock stars, they still have to foot the bill after trashing hotel rooms with Grey Poupon. Savor the marinated words of a cooking master with this GrouponLive deal to see Guts and Glory: An Evening with Anthony Bourdain at Laurie Auditorium at Trinity University on Thursday, November 8, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Choose between the following reserved seating options:

  • For $37, you get one G-Pass for seating in back rows of the back orchestra (up to a $53.11 value, including all fees).
  • For $41, you get one G-Pass for seating in the front rows of the back orchestra (up to a $59.74 value, including all fees).

Because the ticket is a G-Pass, Groupon customers can use it to enter the venue directly; they will not need to redeem their Groupon at will call.

One of the culinary world’s most famously outspoken gastronomes serves up an insightful night for foodies during Guts and Glory: An Evening with Anthony Bourdain. The lovably abrasive Bourdain, who's as verbose and cutting as a serrated thesaurus, has won over food enthusiasts with his best-selling book, Medium Raw, and his opined explorations of the culinary landscape chronicled in the Travel Channel’s No Reservations. During an interview last year with New York magazine, Bourdain described his job as traveling "around the world eating and drinking and making self-indulgent television about the experience." In 2013, the author and Emmy Award winner will be starring in two new shows, one a cooking-competition series on ABC and the second a travel-documentary program on CNN. The commodious stage and circular seating of Trinity University’s Laurie Auditorium gives all fans a good view of the mighty chef. Bourdain’s appearance adds to the auditorium’s history of distinguished guest lecturers and speeches from numerous Nobel laureates.

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.

The Groupon Guide to: Getting the Couch through the Doorway

They would never make a couch so big that it couldn't fit through any size of doorway. If you ever wanna sit down to watch TV, you're gonna have to do the following first:

  • Turn it right.
  • No, that was a question. "Turn it, right?"
  • Try to shove your head through it. For leverage.
  • Take the cushions off.
  • See if that lady will hold the cushions so they don't get dirty.
  • What are those purple and black stains under the cushions?
  • Tell her it will only take a second and that we would do it for her.
  • Those stains look like a scary code.
  • Line it up so that the armrest is parallel with the huge gash we just put in the wall.
  • Take the cushions back from Mrs. Princess. She obviously has better things to do.
  • Hold on, I think my fingers fell asleep.
  • Yup.
  • Think outside the box. What if we moved the doorway around the couch?
  • I can't believe we got this for free from the back of that open moving truck.
  • Throw the cushions down the stairs so the lady knows we're mad at her.
  • Let's take a break and drink these milks my friend hooked us up with.

Can you really get a couch through a doorway in 15 simple steps?
