Ink Life Tour
With more than 200 artists, including such nationally known luminaries as LA Ink's Amy Nicoletto, Ink Master!'s James Vaughn, and Clint Cummings, the Ink Life Tour treats tattoo lovers to three days of amazing tattoos. Daily contests for best work let guests show off their own art while viewing professional face-offs. Although not included with admission, guests can choose to be tattooed on the spot by one of the artists present. Register during the event for your chance to be a canvas in one of the tattoo competitions. A suspension show by travelling group Aztlan wows audiences as performers float above the ground, held aloft only by strategically placed hooks in their skin. Nearby, stages host nationally touring bands as well as local musical talent.
Everlast (Friday, May 24, at 9:30 p.m.)
Everlast performing "What It's Like” at Hollywood’s Key Club in 2009
Initially rising to fame with 1992's exuberant "Jump Around," Everlast—né Erik Schrody—and his rap group House of Pain made a name for themselves with their party-ready beats and bad-boy antics. After splitting off to pursue a solo career, Everlast was derailed by a massive heart attack, but burst back onto the scene stronger than ever in 1998 with Whitey Ford Sings the Blues, whose bluesy acoustics and socially engaged rapping were epitomized by the top-40 smash "What It's Like." The performer has continued in this vein ever since, having released four more solo albums, won a Grammy for his contribution to Santana's Supernatural, and melted a record amount of sugarcane into molasses with his husky voice.
Adam Gontier (Saturday, May 25, at 9:30 p.m.)
Adam Gontier performing "Just Like a Lion" on the Ink Life Tour
After splitting with his longtime band mates in Three Days Grace this past January, Adam Gontier dedicated himself anew to a solo career. He described his latest music on Facebook as "…real. It's honest. Not fake. It's from my soul." Now touring with the support of his still unnamed backup band, Gontier aims to move fans with his raw new sound, using his ragged vibrato for lyrics mined straight from his heart.
