Celtic Nights

Ireland lends six singers and six step dancers to Jorgensen's cabaret in the form of Celtic Nights. The talented dozen explore the experience of Irish-American immigration during Journey of Hope, a show that uses Celtic music and dance to make history feel personal and immediate. Counted among the Emerald Isle songs is “Colcannon,” which describes the traditional Irish dish with comforting details such as “lovely pickled cream” mingling with greens and scallions “like a picture in a dream.” The layered harmonies of the chorus add further national unity to the words “Yes you did, so you did, so did he and so did I. And the more I think about it, sure the nearer I’m to cry.”
