The Scouting Report

Though the Royals got off to a shaky start in April, they posted a winning 15–13 record in May and seek to continue the turnaround into June. The club faces off in interleague play against the NL Central's Milwaukee Brewers and reigning World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals. At the plate for the Royals, first baseman Billy Butler may be well on his way to clocking the most homers of his Major League career, already in double-digits for the season. And with more than 20 runs on the year, third baseman Mike Moustakas knows more about diamonds than a prospector who double-majored in geometry and sports management.

Kansas City Royals

MVPs, Gold Gloves, and a World Series title pepper more than 40 years of Kansas City Royals history, replete with powerful pitches and bat-cracking home runs. The recently renovated Kauffman Stadium treats visitors to a giant high-definition video board, which wears a 40-foot crown and waves a scepter made of massive glow sticks. During breaks in the action, fans can visit concessions stands, play mini golf in the outfield experience, or count each of the stadium’s 37,903 seats. Open until the top of the eighth inning, a 7,000-square-foot Hall of Fame guides guests through a maze of memorabilia, including photos of Royals past and perfume-scented love notes to the Royals of the future.

The Groupon Guide to: Classic Board Games

With the rainy season looming, parents and babysitters are scratching their heads trying to come up with dynamic, educational activities to keep housebound children from fleeing out of boredom and returning caked with mud. Luckily, every American home comes preinstalled with a hall closet full of these classic board games:

  • Dance on the Ants (Pelican Games Inc., 1961)
  • Don’t Eat the President! (Milford Bentley, 1954)
  • Hush Money: the Game of Staying Quiet (Ashworth Bros., 1941)
  • There’s a Mouse in the Walls! (MomCo., 1982)
  • Escape from the 36 Chambers: a Wu-Tang Clan Murder Mystery (SRC Records, 1992)
  • Cake Hospital! (Crenshaw Novelties, 1965)
  • A Big Ream of Copier Paper and a Bunch of Crayons Rattling Around in an Old Popcorn Tin (Traditional)

Which classic board game had a cameo by the Wu-Tang Clan?
