In a Nutshell

Nationally renowned comics such as Butch Bradley split sides in a showroom that overlooks the Vegas Strip and the Bellagio fountains

The Fine Print

Although not one of the five traditional senses, a sense of humor is the only thing that allows humans to answer knock-knocks at the door. You're there with this GrouponLive deal to L.A. Comedy Club, located above Cabo Wabo Cantina in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. For $25, you get a comedy-show package for two (a $124 total value). The package includes:

  • Two VIP tickets to any comedy show (an $84 value)
  • A club membership valid through the end of 2012 (a $40 value), which includes two general-admission tickets to unlimited shows within the membership period, beginning when the VIP tickets are claimed. The $6 tax and processing fee for each ticket is not included.

Local fixtures and nationally touring laugh-getters split sides at L.A. Comedy Club, where an intimate showroom warms audiences with bright stage lights, and panoramic windows display breathtaking views of the Las Vegas Strip and Bellagio fountains. Shows Wednesday–Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. spotlight performers who have wiped away frowns and workday scowls in television appearances on Comedy Central, Showtime, and HBO.

The schedule’s upcoming lineup of funny people includes the energetic Todd Rexx (December 5–9), AKA T-Rexx, who elicits roars from crowds using sharp observations and spot-on impersonations that slayed on BET’s ComicView and Def Comedy Jam. Tom Segura (December 12–16), seen on Conan and in his own Comedy Central Presents special, riffs on society’s declining intellect and the implications of face tattoos with a calm, assured delivery. A few days later, Shang (December 19–23) jokes and provokes with blistering sociopolitical satire. The club bids adieu to 2012 with the return of Butch Bradley (December 26–30), whose gift for landing heavy-hitting punch lines earned him an appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and whose supposed knack for pointing out suspicious passengers garners him no favors from airport security.

VIP ticket holders can skip the long lines that snake along the Strip and snag seats in the front or back rows, the former of which hosts a Splash Zone that lies in the trajectory of involuntary spit-takes. Couples daring enough to drink libations during the set can upgrade to the all-you-can-drink-ticket option at the box office ($25 extra) and sip on cocktails, beer, and Cabo Wabo tequila until the last comic leaves the stage.

L.A. Comedy Club

Strolling along Las Vegas Boulevard, visitors seeking laughter end up at L.A. Comedy Club, which is located in the Windows at Bally's. Performers have included A-list standups such as Loni Love and Doug Benson. Before entering Bally's, visitors can gaze at the Technicolor splendor of the Las Vegas Strip and the nearby Paris Las Vegas hotel and casino, whose electronic replica of the Montgolfier balloon whisks comics back to their hotels after their sets.

The Groupon Guide to: Baby-Shower Gifts

Sadly, it's impossible to gain entry to a baby shower these days without presenting a token of appreciation to the ever-demanding unborn. Here are some of this baby-having season's sure-to-please gifts:

  • Plastic key ring but with real house keys on it in case of an emergency
  • Bib reading "B.I.B. (Baby in Bib)"
  • eDiaper, the Electronic Diaper
  • The LERN-2-SPEL TinyTablet by Small Mindz
  • CD of stimulating classical music as performed by the world-renowned Growling Dog Orchestra

You’re never too young to sleep on a futon.

Reviews

  • One of my favorite comedy clubs in Vegas ... Large space, comfortable seating and laid back. Absolutely fantastic for locals and tourists alike.
    Emily R., Yelp, 3/25/11
  • The comedians were quite funny, and if you're looking for a fun couple hours away from the tables, it's a good time.
