Classic Albums Live presents Pink Floyd: Animals and Dark Side of the Moon
Classic Albums Live reanimates the long-playing, pre-shuffle heyday of music with meticulous live recreations of the world’s most beloved rock albums. In this double-feature, the pros play through the entirety of 1977's Animals and 1973's Dark Side of the Moon, pouring out each note the way Pink Floyd intended. From the pitch-black political lyrics of Roger Waters and the shredded guitar licks of David Gilmour to the lush keyboards of Richard Wright and the thundering drums of Nick Mason, the band recreates the total Pink Floyd live experience.
The tribute begins anachronistically with Animals. Based conceptually off George Orwell's Animal Farm, the album explores a world of bloodthirsty corporate dogs, power-mad pig tyrants, and apathetic herds of ovine citizens in five tracks. Next, The Dark Side of the Moon tackles more metaphysical matters such as the nature of time, mental illness, greed, and conflict. Starting with “Speak to Me,” the performers surge onward through “The Great Gig in the Sky” before turning their instruments upside down to launch into Side B.
