Making your own fruit preserves requires a delicate balance of science, seasonal produce, and a touch of creative flair. Learn about a variety of preserving techniques such as drying and pickling, and what differentiates jellies, jams, and curds alongside Leah Waldo, an expert with over five years of canning experience. Snack on tea and homemade shortbread jam cookies before rolling up your sleeves to process seasonal produce, such as blood oranges or Meyer lemons, and cook and jar the fruits of your labor.

For the last five years, she’s also delved into the world of canning and preserving, and her creative recipes have garnered her much acclaim, including winning contests in magazines like Kentucky Monthly.

Canning can be a messy process at times and sometimes fruit juices can stain, so wear something you do not mind getting dirty. You can also bring an apron if you would like.
