Grupo Niche, formed by the late Jairo Varela in 1978, was already one of the most successful bands in the “salsa capital of the world,” Cali, Colombia, when they made their United States debut at Madison Square Garden in 1986. Inciting dance parties wherever it goes, Grupo Niche brings fans to a fever pitch with its signature song, “Cali Pachanguero,” which pays a hip-swinging tribute to its rowdy hometown and its carnivals, raised streets, and mountains ringing with infectious horn lines. Other classics by the salsa-slinging superstars include “Han Cojido La Cosa,” a bright yet poignant tune about defiance in the face of racial mockery, and the nostalgic “Mi Pueblo Natal.”

Perched in Downtown Disney West Side, House of Blues Orlando resembles something of a backwoods theme park itself.
