In a Nutshell

Hard, fast, and relentless metal emanates from acclaimed hardcore quintet, Swedish and British death-metal acts, and hard-rock supergroup

The Fine Print

An animal kingdom unto itself, heavy metal channels the machismo of a lion, the feverish pace of a wildebeest stampede, and the blood-curdling scream of an ogre tearing his ACL. Let out animal-like yowls with this GrouponLive deal to see Lamb of God with special guests In Flames, Hellyeah, and Sylosis at Toyota Presents Oakdale Theater in Wallingford. For $20, you get one G-Pass for reserved seating in sections 203–207 on Friday, November 23, at 8 p.m. (up to a $41.50 value, including all fees). Doors open at 7 p.m. Because the ticket is a G-Pass, Groupon customers can use it to enter the venue directly; they will not need to redeem their Groupon at will call.

The ax-wielding alliance of Lamb of God, In Flames, Hellyeah, and Sylosis swiftly dismantles any notion that heavy metal is getting softer with age, rattling stages with a sonic boom of breakneck riffs and throaty bellows. Forerunners of the American heavy-metal renaissance, Lamb of God eschews kitsch for ironclad rock 'n' roll in its purest form. Behind a catalog of acclaimed albums including the breakthrough New American Gospel, the Grammy-nominated Sacrament and its latest anvil, Resolution, the quintet has attracted a rabid grassroots fan base and major label success by sticking to its un-formulaic formula. Relentless, technical, and unapologetically un-commercial, the band unleashes an arsenal of Gatling gun guitars, drums that dare the God of Thunder to step outside, and unabashed lyrics that prompt even Mount Rushmore to turn its heads.

In Flames, the Molotov toast of Scandinavian thrash and pioneers of melodic death metal since the early ‘90s, pile drive with hummingbird guitar harmonics and molar-grinding growls. Texas heavy-metal supergroup Hellyeah scares the fillings out of fans with the ferocious tag team of vocalist Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett from Mudvayne and the drum-pounding malice of Pantera’s Vinnie Paul. Rounding out the lineup, British metalcore quartet Sylosis give the show a fiery blastoff with brutal labyrinthine epics from their latest album, Monolith.

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.

The Groupon Guide to: New Plays

Anyone who thinks live theater is a dying art hasn't experienced the magic of an actor creating an explosion on stage using only sounds from his mouth or changing into a different character using only a switch of the hat. Take a look at some of the fascinating contemporary plays coming to a theater near you:

The Sanders Family Chronicles: When the family dog dies, the Sanders family's 14 adult children must return to the small Southern town where they grew up. Getting these 14 very different people to agree on one dog's burial plot won't be easy, and you can bet secrets are going to be revealed.

Oh! To Move! or The Weather in Cincinnati Has Never Been So Clear: Don't ever say an old lady can't dance. Ever since her husband passed, Eva Marie can't stop boppin' to the beat. This 67-year-old has a new lease on life, and she's swingin' her stuff at every pub in town when she meets a stranger who loves dancing just as much as she does. This feel-good hit has critics saying "Go, Eva Marie, go!"

The Last Soldier of Queens: When a major corporation comes in and wants to turn all of Queens into a Dormart, a regular working-class man named Reginald Guy stands his ground. As Dormart razes the town to prepare for construction, Reg Guy watches his hometown transform into a postapocalyptic wasteland. It all comes to a head in a climatic showdown between Reg and his nemesis, The Bulldozer Monster.

When will you see the new play "The Last Soldier of Queens"?
