In a Nutshell

Legendary Texas blues-rockers blaze with classic rock and searing new tunes from their latest album, La Futura

The Fine Print

Rock 'n' roll first became popular in America during the 1950s, much like the catch phrase "I got power like I'm Eisenhower." Hear something catchy with this GrouponLive deal to see ZZ Top at House of Blues Las Vegas. For $74, you get main-floor, standing-room-only general admission on Wednesday, December 5, at 9 p.m. (up to a $113.50 value, including all fees). Doors open at 8 p.m.

Legendary Texas trio and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top have scratched the boogying itch of fans for more than 40 years with their slippery lyrics and blues-seared, buzzsawing riffs. Unlike estranged trios such as Charlie's Angels, the impenetrable force of ZZ Top is still composed of the same rigid core of rock ‘n’ roll mercenaries: Les Paul–wielding guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill, and drummer Frank Beard, the historically beardless one. ZZ Top's adroit musical powers and Santa-shaming facial hair have made them a household name, boosting back-seat manufacturing revenues with classic-rock staples such as "Legs" and "Tush."

Touring in support of La Futura, its first album in eight years, the band keeps its Eliminator topped off with unleaded rocket fuel in songs that crackle and ooze with all the venom of its heyday hits. In a live show throbbing with energy, the band mixes favorites such as “Jesus Just Left Chicago” and “Waitin’ for the Bus” with some new barnburners, including the declarative “I Gotsta Get Paid.”

Live in Copenhagen 2012

The Groupon Guide to: Escaping a Glass Prison Cell

With new weird laws constantly being passed, there's a good chance you'll probably be convicted of an obscure crime and sentenced to imprisonment in a large glass holding cell. Here's how you can get out:

  • Glass will melt at a certain temperature, but why bother going through all that trouble when you can just break it by throwing yourself against one of the walls?

  • Look around for structural weaknesses. If you can't find any, you're not looking hard enough because that holding cell is composed of large pieces of easily breakable glass.

  • Turn around and pick up that 40-pound sledgehammer that's been sitting in the corner this entire time. When your adrenaline starts pumping from lifting that heavy sledgehammer, put it back down and use that adrenaline surge to propel your body straight through the glass.

  • In movies, people are always shattering nearby drinking glasses and windows by singing in an unbearably high pitch. Do the same thing, but instead of singing, just use any solid part of your body to smash that glass!

When is your town getting a glass prison?
