In a Nutshell

Country legend summons the Christmas spirit in throaty renditions of “O Holy Night” and “Let It Snow,” along with hits such as “The Gambler”

The Fine Print

The best present a person can receive is love, but the second-best present is a new dog wrapped in money. Find the perfect gift with this GrouponLive deal to see Kenny Rogers Christmas and Hits Tour at The Majestic Theatre on Monday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Choose between the following seating options:

  • For $29, you get balcony ticket (up to a $58 value, including all fees).
  • For $34, you get one mezzanine ticket (up to a $68.25 value, including all fees).

Legendary Grammy-winning crooner and beard-of-all-trades Kenny Rogers shares his eggnog-rich voice and ambling gait in a showcase celebrating the snowiest, most sock-intensive holiday of year. For half a century, Rogers has built up a catalog of classics such as “The Gambler” and “Islands in the Stream” while also periodically giving into his deep love of gospel. And although he’s a traditionalist, his nonstop performing has kept him in touch with every generation since his career began—Spin praised his appearance as one of the key sets at Bonnaroo this year.

His spiritual side gets a chance to soar alongside his secular storytelling chops on the Christmas and Hits tour. Along with original tunes from his many Christmas albums, Rogers turns to wonder-filled classics including “O Holy Night,” “We Three Kings,” and “Let It Snow.” In both halves of his repertoire, Rogers is likely to roam the audience, inviting sing-alongs and playfully bantering. On last year’s version of the tour, the Kalamazoo Gazette reported that he showed the crowd as much hospitality “as if we were a small gathering of friends instead of a packed house of fans.”

Majestic Theatre San Antonio

Originally built in 1929 to be the most opulent and modern movie theater in Texas, the Majestic Theatre's extravagant interior still casts a spell over visitors. Ornate, Spanish Baroque towers rise around the auditorium's stage, making it appear like a castle standing amid walls covered in vines and gently fluttering drapery. The vast blue ceiling captivates eyes with images of the night sky, twinkling stars, drifting clouds, and the faint glimmer of each attendee’s personal spy satellite.

The Groupon Guide to: Tricking Your Kids into Eating Vegetables

Kids don't want to eat vegetables because vegetables aren't fun. Make legumes laughably fun with these tips for preparing vegetables:

  • Put black beans on circular slices of potato to give your kids healthier "chocolate-chip cookies."

  • Cut corn off the cob and offer their picky palates some "rotten goblin teeth."

  • Mash yams and your young ones will be thrilled to eat "a very sick man's innards."

  • An avocado kind of looks like a hand grenade.

  • Remove the strings from celery. Kids will voluntarily eat celery if it's not strung like some kind of ridiculous violin.

Mom, can I have seconds of goblin teeth?
