Vladimir Gorbach

In 2011, Vladimir Gorbach won the top prize at the 2011 Guitar Foundation of America International Competition, marking his 10th victory in international guitar competition. Since then, he's strummed his strings in more than 50 cities throughout North America, Brazil, and China, adding stamps to a passport that's already sailed across Europe, Australia, and his native Russia. Whether he’s performing solo, harmonizing with an orchestra, or ripping a mean air-guitar solo in the passenger seat, Gorbach's strumming skills are evident from the very first note.

Andrey Ponochevny and Elena Zyl

Connected through both love and the love of music, the award-winning husband-and-wife duo of Andrey Ponochevny and Elena Zyl produce classical piano music that’s known the world over. Ponochevny has claimed gold and bronze trophies from a trio of international piano competitions. He's also sent his solo notes ringing through such prestigious venues as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center. Holding her own, his wife Zyl—a fellow native of Minsk, Belarus—has been performing publicly since age 10. And in that time, she's delivered the gift of chamber music to scads of cities across North America, Asia, and Europe.

Massry Center for the Arts

Named for the Massry family, whose contributions to The College of Saint Rose helped propel the construction of the arts emporium, the Massry Center for the Arts furthers community appreciation for the arts through performances and events. Music-education classrooms and rehearsal rooms beckon fledgling performers to further their sonic craft, whereas a gallery and a recital hall allow artists to showcase their paintings or beat-boxed readings of the Constitution. The entire environmentally friendly center adheres to green standards, with a geothermal system for heating and cooling, wind-powered electricity, and hardwood floors made of American cherrywood culled from tree farms.
