Ask Mrs. Honey B, the latest creation from Chicago’s Maripat Donovan, star and creator of the long-running comedy series Late Nite Catechism, transforms Meyer Theatre into a couples counseling classroom, where Donovan teaches the dos and don'ts (mostly the don'ts) of romance. Sinking her comic choppers into the role of Mrs. Honey Buczkowski, a former home-economics teacher determined to be a “Full Life Level”–certified life coach, she creates a new franchise for herself as the loud and sassy meddler with a big heart underneath her even bigger pink jacket. The bickering Travertinos, played by Scott Bielecky and Denise Fennell from the popular Tony and Tina’s Wedding , act as guinea pigs to Honey B.’s unpatented love guruisms and endure her sassy sarcasm as they try to keep their marriage fresh. The audience also gets a taste of Honey’s questionable therapy when Donovan uses her sharp improv skills to answer the questions of real-life lovebirds. Like all the Late Nite Catechism productions, Donovan’s comic feast walks a fine line between cynical satire and loving devotion. The production always keeps audience members on their toes, even as Meyer Theatre’s stately gold-leaf pillars and vibrant crimson accents set minds at ease.

The Groupon Guide to: Living Alone

Not everyone lives with a boyfriend or girlfriend or in a field where a group of gentle horses shows up every night and lets you pet them until morning. If you are someone who lives alone, make yourself feel less alone with these tips:

  • Break up the uncomfortable silence by leaving the TV on all day, or, if you love Earth, just constantly yelling.
  • It's hard to fall asleep alone, so build a "sleeping buddy" out of materials that are both comfortable enough to hug and durable enough to withstand your razor-sharp teeth.
  • Invite friends over for dinner. If you’re funny, dressed nicely, and figure out how to avoid having that smell happen, they'll probably ask you to marry them. Right?
  • Rent a baby from one of those rent-a-baby businesses. Not only is it cheap, but that baby won't be able to walk out on you until it's much, much older.
  • Whenever the loneliness feels unbearable, just remember you're not alone—there are hundreds of prisoners living just like you.

Which materials are durable against razor-sharp teeth?
