The Scouting Report

After surging to the NLCS behind 96 victories in 2011, the Brewers have spent the first half of the 2012 season jockeying for position in the annually competitive Central Division. Despite a slow start, the club still finds itself within striking distance of first place thanks in large part to an offense that has scored 317 runs in 72 games—keeping them in the top half of all of baseball. Reigning MVP Ryan Braun has posted his typical All-Star-worthy numbers in 68 games, clubbing 20 homers and using clutch swings to collect 52 RBIs. Veteran third baseman Aramis Ramirez, meanwhile, has provided Braun with protection by cranking nine homers of his own and consistently sharing his sunblock during day games.

Milwaukee Brewers

Originally founded as the Seattle Pilots in 1969, the Milwaukee Brewers have brought Major League Baseball to Wisconsin since 1970. The team played its first 30 seasons at Milwaukee County Stadium; Miller Park opened its gates in 2001, featuring field dimensions mapped out by legendary Brewer Robin Yount. Today, up to 41,900 fans pack into Miller Park to cheer on their home team as well as The Famous Racing Sausages and Bernie the Brewer, who soars down his iconic slide to celebrate home runs or cheer himself up after burning popcorn inside his elevated left-field clubhouse.
