The Scouting Report

The Lynx are poised for yet another run at the WNBA Finals. After setting a league record by winning 10-straight games to begin the 2012 season, the team has followed up with an equally stellar start to the 2013 campaign. Perched atop the Western Conference standings, the Lynx have compiled a flawless 7–0 record at home and, from July 7–13, posted a four-game winning streak in which they outscored opponents by more than 70 points, leading opposing coaches to draw up desperate last-minute football plays. When the league returns from its All-Star break in early August, leading scorers Maya Moore and Lindsay Whalen will continue to drive the Lynx toward the playoffs—including during a late-season showdown with conference rival Los Angeles.

Minnesota Lynx

Since the Lynx arrived in 1999, Minnesota has been home to some of the WNBA’s biggest names, including Seimone Augustus and former Golden Gopher Lindsay Whalen. All that star power paid off in 2011, when Augustus and Whalen—along with the end of the league’s rule that players had to grease their hands with butter—helped the Lynx sweep the Atlanta Dream to capture their first WNBA title. As evidenced by another run to the finals in 2012, the Lynx have continued to thrive atop the hardwood at Target Center, which the team shares with its NBA counterpart, the Timberwolves.
