Christmas Belles

The Futrelle Sisters—last seen in the comedy Dearly Beloved—return with good tidings of great sass in the zinger-filled farce Christmas Belles. It's the holiday season in the fictional town of Fayro, Texas, but sisters Frankie, Twink, and Honey Raye aren't in the mood to hark any herald angels singing. Frankie's awaiting the birth of her second set of twins, Twink's in jail for post-break-up arson, and Honey Raye's trying to wrangle control of her church's yearly Christmas program from the clutches of the meddling Miss Geneva. Despite their tendency for family tiffs, the sisters must pull together to make sure that the show goes on as their colorful cast—including a Santa Claus who's passing a kidney stone, a bad shepherd, and an indisposed Elvis impersonator—begins to fall like dominoes due to food poisoning from a pancake supper. As the Futrelles flounder and the jokes keep coming, Christmas Belles puts the townpeople of Fayro, and the audiencepeople of Mud Creek Theater, in the yuletide spirit.

Mud Creek Players

There's nothing stuffy about theater when it's performed in a barn, and that's part of the Mud Creek Players' charm. As Indianapolis's longest running community theater, the company has filled their stage—known simply as "The Barn"—with classic works, modern comedies, musicals, and dramas for over 60 years. And that commitment to enriching local culture continues when the curtain falls and the spotlights go to sleep—the group schedules singing and acting camps for budding thespians, and frequently hosts social events such as dinners, game nights, and holiday parties.
