The Scouting Report

Coming off their second-best season in franchise history in 2011–12, the Predators continue to cement themselves as a contender in the competitive Central Division of the Western Conference. Through 13 games, the Preds have picked up where they left off a year ago, skating to a 6–3–4 record (16 points) and a second-place tie with Detroit. Much like a bridge troll who has access to fencing supplies, Nashville's defense lets almost nothing pass—it allows just 1.8 goals per game, the best in the NHL. Much of the D's success stems from its penalty-kill prowess, which sits at a solid 84 percent.

Nashville Predators

On October 7, 2000, the Predators opened the season with a two-game series against the Pittsburgh Penguins just outside Tokyo, Japan. The series drew the largest crowds ever to witness hockey in the nation's history.

But just two years prior, Nashville was the new kid on the NHL block. One of the final pieces of a massive expansion effort during the 1990s, the Predators became the 27th franchise in NHL history when they skated to a 1–0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on October 10, 1998. Like many new organizations and racehorses with four left hooves, Nashville stumbled out of the gate, missing the playoffs in each of its first five seasons. That futility came to a sudden halt in 2003-04, when the Predators made their first of four straight postseason appearances. The Predators continue their hot streak with a second consecutive shutout on Thursday night (Feb. 14, 2013) against the Coyotes, as they skate toward another fourth straight payoff appearance (their 8th in the last 9 seasons).

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.
